Fun extra fact! Digitigrade (also said as 'digigrade') means "to walk on your toes." 'Digits' is another word for 'toes,' and animals like cats and dogs walk only on the tips of their toes. That part of their hind legs that some people refer to as the 'backwards knee,' shown as a foam shape on the back of the fursuit leg (where the calf is) in the video, is actually the ankle! The big round foam piece on the front of the leg represents where the actual knee is. Plantigrade means "to walk flat-footed" and basically means you walk with your heels on the ground. 'Plantar' refers to the sole of your foot, aka the walking surface of plantigrade animals. If you ever forget which is while, remembering the root words digit and plantar and what they refer to can be helpful in remembering! I assume 'digit' is easier for most people as it's not an uncommon way to refer to fingers and toes lol
