Western countries were so much developed in terms of infrastructure, technology and human resources.. after world war many countries got indipendence but they were fully dependend on western nations..theier gdp was too low to provide minimum services to their people...so they cant think about business, industries for several decades...that trade deficit enjoyed by the superior western nations..

Neo means new Hence neo-colonism means new type of colonial era . In this powers such as US use it's influence on other countries to maintain their economic interests . China is relatively new to this but it is quickly getting success in this neo colonial era. 1* Western countries continued to dominate the Global trade despite their low GDP growth of economy. There are several factors responsible for this - a. Colonial past - countries like Britain and France had access to a large chunk of the natural resources of the world during industrial revolution which made their economic growth and trade flourish. In colonial era , these colonial masters were draining the wealth of these so called Third world countries. As you have mentioned in this video that France have gone a step ahead to insure payment from their colonial past. b. Even After gaining Independence from colonial masters, these 3rd world countries have never lost their mentality of living in the colonial era . However there are few success stories like India and China though not enough c. Neo colonialism - As mentioned earlier this new form of colonial era have also suppressed the trade from 3rd world countries by influencing policies such as higher tariffs. military interventions by Us in many countries have also deliberately hindering the exports by these countries. Developed countries have also taken protectionist policy when it comes to opening their markets.
