Well done, nice deconstruction. And not a sign of the mythical hammond organ that some are adamant is on the track 🤣🤪

George didn’t use the Gretsch on this tune: he used the single pickup Rickenbacker that he bought in Illinois.

Never knew that my friend, thank you.

@@MrBSides You can hear really clearly on this great deconstruction that George is using a solid body gtr, not a hollow body. Plus, he’d just gotten the Rickenbacker at the time of this session; it figures that he’d want to use his new gtr. in the studio.

Amazing how much more normal John's Rickenbacker sounds without the keys added. How did you strip the stealth keys out of John's guitar??
@MrBSides Жыл бұрын
What do you mean, it's a bad effect thing right?
@stinkboneorien1270 Жыл бұрын
@@MrBSides Bad? No sure what you mean here but the book "Hearing Aids to the Beatles: A Musician's Perspective Volume I" goes into extreme detail on how Martin added stealth Hammond RT-3 organ to John's Rickenbacker in order to thicken & create a more tonally complex wall of sound. This isolation reveals John's guitar with most of the keys extremely subdued or missing. Simply compare this isolation track to the regular full, backing track and you'll hear something integrate with John's Rickenbacker around 8 seconds into the song just as they sing "I'll" during "Oh yeah I'll". It was a genius move and Martin was unbeatable with adding keys to guitars throughout the Beatles catalog such as when he added his wind-up piano to the intro of "Hard Days Night" and again to Georges 12 string solo on the same recording:-) Beatles recordings are always far more complex or trickier than what meets the ear😃

@@stinkboneorien1270 Listening to the instrumental, there just doesn't seem to be an actual organ on the track, just John's guitar with heavy compression (The Ric 325 also sounds very 'honky', which is what makes it sound so organ-like when compressed) What's the wind-up piano? I thought it was just a regular piano chord on the intro of AHDN (and recorded at half speed for the solo)

@@mr_bassman6685 There *is* an organ, its a Hammond RT-3, cleverly merged with John's Ricky mostly during the verses and very quietly during the M8 seciton paralleing Paul's bas intervals. John 's guitar drops way back but on certain recordings with isolations, you can hear Johns guitar softly strumming the chords behind George's arpeggios then when the verses start John's Ricky is back back out front with the merged keys. Not only are the keys quite evident, especially when both John and the organ hit the B7 chord (John uses an open B7 inversion), but George Martin answered my letter years ago and and said there "were keys on the recording". In fact, a friend of mine in Italy used a sophisticated isolation software that revealed a first organ track where you can hear a glissando. George Martin was a master of stealth and used keys in many Beatles recordings to bolster guitars or even vocals. Speaking of keys, the "Windup piano" term is from George Martin himself.
