Wow, I usually revisit this video at least every other month but it’s hard to describe what it means to be listening to this today. RIP.

Your commentary was out of this world in this video. "Angry" "Listening to madonna next to you..." "You sound like a Broadway Singer. You mean good?" Thank you so much for teaching me about music and keeping me entertained at the same time. You are Awesome.

I am so validated by your mention of Gavin Creel's high note! For years I've wanted to scream, People! You don't understand how fantastic this guy sounds! I think he's my favorite Broadway voice. Side note: once I couldn't get in to the audition for the road company of Hair cause I didn't have enough hair. Now I hear in Gavin's production, they all wore wigs!

Creel's voice is like a bowl of creamy french vanilla gelato. I know that sounds wacky but i don't know how else to describe it.

I was indeed obsessed w both these songs on first hearing thm, especially the delicacy of the orchestration on "I Turned the Corner"; tht song smetimes cn mke me tear up, jst listening to it, & Gavin is sublime. Seeing the 1st natl. tour at its official opening, in Dallas (they did a few perf.s in...St. Louis?--1 of thse giant outdoor venues, but tht ws cnsidered previews--don't ask me why), & 3 more times, I adored it, especially the Millie, Darcie Roberts--grand talent & star quality.

Great deconstruction. It makes me love my fav song on the soundtrack even more. Thanks for pointing out details I never noticed even after hearing it dozens and dozens of times.

Sutton's rendition of 'gimme gimme' is flawless, although there's a version on yt where she sings it on the rosie o'donnel show (looong time ago;p) and for me it's so much better, more emotional and intense, than official cast recording

fantastic video and some great insight! When I first heard Gimme Gimme I was also amazed by the violins at the end (among many other things). Another great instrumental phrase are the saxophones during Sutton's final "Gimme gimme that thing called..."

I absolutely adored this video!! Though, I'm so curious as to how Sutton throated that "Gimme fat boy's [famous arrow]" part. I want to attempt it so badly, but every time I try it out, I squeak uncontrollably and feel like I'm really hurting my chords. :/ Guess I should leave the intricacies to the professionals, haha!

I LOVE/totally agree about the E vowel! HATED IT during Hairspray - "Baltimore and MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE(I hate my life)EEEEEEEE(why god why????)EEEEEEE(ugh is it over this? can't sound good to anyone)EEEEEEEE! *and pose smile with confidence and pretend like it didn't happen* (account hacked by this users loving wife!)

I hate high notes on an -e lol!! He sounds great though!! a great vocal model!
@lyndes3311 жыл бұрын
1) E vowels are hard to hit and make them sound good. No one wants to hear an EEEEEE!!!!! 2) I'm pretty sure Kudisch also goes up to the A. At least a lovely baritone voice is on the A along with Gavin's. It's hard to hear Gavin over it.

As much as i love this, i find that singing the E vowel is the easiest as it engages more of the head register. Other than that i love all these videos.
