It’s so good to see that AG is collaborating with a Moroccan family business to sell these slippers, unlike the likes of Celine, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Balenciaga who just copied the babouche design and then sold it for ridiculous prices.

Goodness girl, if you were to embody a place it would be Marrakech! Everything design-wise is your style. You must love that place so much! Thanks for taking us along on your trip, it was very interesting. I know someone who travels often to Morocco, it's his favorite place to visit, but I've never seen it like you showed it! P.S. Riad is a traditional Moroccan house..usually with a court yard inside. It was meant for a family with with more than one wife in order for each wife to have her own privacy and no one could see their doings from the outside. That was the examination I got when I visited lol
@TheKaurK2 жыл бұрын
Okay great, I personally could not verify any of what mentioned regarding it’s use for a family with multiple wives. A riad has been a thing since Roman times. For anyone interested, here’s what the wiki has to say: A riad (Arabic: رياض, romanized: riyāḑ; also spelled "riyad") is a type of traditional Moroccan and Andalusi interior garden or courtyard associated with house and palace architecture.[1] Its origin is generally attributed to Persian gardens that spread during the Islamic period. The term is nowadays often used in Morocco to refer to a hotel or guesthouse-style accommodation with shared common areas and private rooms, often within a restored traditional mansion.

@@TheKaurK a riad is just a traditional moroccan home that you would find in all the old médinas of morroco (imperial cities (rabat , marrakesh, Fez , meknes... Have the luxurious version and there's the kasbahs in the southern part ), it is a family home because the sons get married and stay there with their parents (PS: moroccan empires ruled Andalousia for 8 centuries that's why there's lot of moorish (moroccan ) architecture there and not the other way around

Riads are actually old merchants' homes, since a medina was a centre of trade. Normally one building would host a whole family, with many levels and a patio in the middle usually with a fountain, and tiled floors. Many of those riads are now converted into accommodation for tourists.
