Amanda no matter what you talk about, I'll gladly listen to your rants. It feels like I'm just chilling with a very talkative friend and I kinda struggle with being very talkative myself so it feels nice to just hear you talk about whatever you want. You're like the best friend I never had 🤍 I'm personally not exactly sure where I stand on aliens. I'm just chill with whatever in all honesty. If aliens do exist, cool that's dope, hopefully they won't blow up the planet. If they don't, then that's fine too, but it would be difficult to prove they don't actually exist. My island has this insane love square going on. Freya and Eugene were a thing because Eugene was the only and I mean ONLY person to visit Freya ever, and he sat at her table on his first visit like he owned the place. A few weeks later Freya gets mad about "somebody canceling plans for the weekend" likely being Eugene. A few days after Eugene went to Freya's house, Teddy started talking to Freya a bit too much and Eugene and Teddy had a fight. Eugene even pretended that he didn't hang out with Teddy the night before (which he did). But here's the crazy part Ankha has had a thing for Freya since the beginning. They were doing yoga together like 2 days after she first got there, not to mention they're neighbors, but Ankha started checking out Freya whenever she closed her eyes. Then Freya started checking Ankha out. In present day I don't see any of them near Freya, since her and Eugene didn't work out, Teddy and Freya have a platonic friendship, and her and Ankha are both too nervous to confess. Kinda want to play matchmaker on the Freya × Ankha ship but can't ever get the right timing. Edit: I think both Teddy and Zell have a crush on each other, they stayed by the tree at town hall all of Christmas Eve night, and both of them were sneaking pictures of each other.

I've seen a UFO before: at a rest area during a road trip to see family in another state, the sun was starting to set and i was outside the car stretching my legs and i looked up and saw a saucer high in the sky, with a pitch black silhouette and three lights on its bottom. it drifted slowly along the sky for a good 5 seconds. at first i thought it was a regular airplane i was looking at from a wierd angle, but then suddenly really swiftly darted back a little ways, and shot forward and disappeared. the motion was like one of those kid's toy cars that you pull back, then let go to send it shooting forward, but in a bouyant way? if that makes sense. it disappeared in like, half a second. my older brother was walking back to the car when i first saw it and i tried to point it out to him before it vanished, but he didnt believe me. and when i tried to tell my parents they threatened to punish me for lying and trying to scare everyone 😑

Have you ever heard of the concept of Yuugen? It’s a Japanese term that means “a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe, an awareness that triggers a response too deep for words”, and when you were talking about feeling emotional about aliens, that’s what it made me think of. Also, in regards to experiencing any paranormal activity, my mom had a paranormal experience when she was a kid. When she was younger she and my aunt and grandparents would spend a lot of time out in the desert. Naturally, the sky is super clear and there’s nothing around for miles and miles. Even if you saw a plane, you’d hear it and it only moves at a consistent speed, you know? One night, she was stargazing and suddenly saw a bunch of lights, maybe a group of 4, suddenly emerge from the horizon. They flew apart, flew together, and flew apart again once or twice before vanishing. According to her, there were no sounds, no trails left, and they were moving way too fast to be planes. Take that as you will ^^

​@@theamandafiles no worries dude, it's easy to believe at face value. it sounds cool and interesting. so you're definitely not, like, some crazy outlier. you're a scientist exploring the evidence. at surface value, the way they present it and a lot of other pseudoarchaeology topics, it sometimes seems irrational NOT to believe it, or at least think it has a grain of truth. but anyways, get ready for a novel, and also documentary recommendations lol! firstly, sorta unrelated to ancient aliens, but re: humans playing a part in the wider universe, carl sagan was laughed at when he started studying astrobiology but he's one of my idols. his work on the voyager golden record and plaque? jeeeeze that shit gets me very emotional. there's a 2017 documentary called 'the farthest' all about the voyager missions and the creation of the plaque and sagan's insistence on including it as a possible calling card for alien lifeforms. it's excellent, highly recommend it if you want to have some hope in humanity but also maybe an existential crisis. i'm in sagan's corner, ido think aliens exist, simply because it seems statistically impossible for them not to. i think denying that at this point isn't practical. whether they've visited earth? i'm still unsure on that. do i think it's absolutely out of the question? nah, but i think with how insignificant earth is and how little we can actually view in the universe... i dunno. secondly, it sounds like you may have already watched it based on what you discussed about the chauvet cave paintings, but in case you haven't, 'cave of forgotten dreams' is an awesome werner herzog documentary on it. really really cool stuff, i try to force pretty much everyone i know to watch it. finally, regarding the ancient aliens stuff, the way it's become a commonplace discussion topic frustrates the archaeological community. unfortunately the reality is that a lot of actual archaeology is boring. a lot of paperwork. it can be hard to do public outreach beyond the huge world heritage sites like the pyramids at giza, the city of tikal, and stonehenge that draw huge numbers of tourists (and tourism dollars). you're already ahead of the game in acknowledging that those were built by ancient humans and not aliens. in some ways, the popularization of pseudoarchaeology has brought new interest into the field, but it can also be damaging and create confirmation bias - then again, they might argue that i have a confirmation bias as well. but my point is that misinformation spreads easily because it's oftentimes more interesting than reality. and ancient aliens isn't the only narrative at play here - there's also claims about atlantis being real and the (especially damaging) idea that white europeans were the first inhabitants of the americas. as far as sources to debunk things, academic papers explicitly refuting pseudoarchaeology aren't super common, simply because the wider body of academic work in the discipline simply does that on its own by presenting factual data, but there's a good paper by alecia basset titled 'Pseudo-archaeology: The Appropriation and Commercialization of Cultural Heritage', and another by rebekah gansemer called 'Pseudoarchaeology: Archaeology's Long-Lost Cousin?'. in addition, and probably a bit more accessible, there are opinion pieces that have been featured in publications like Science Magazine and Smithsonian Magazine that provide the opinions of archaeologists on the subject matter. i don't know if i can put external links here? but if you pop it into google alongside 'pseudoarchaeology' they should come right up. anyways, i hope i didn't come across as insulting or demeaning, that was not my intention at all. this is a super interesting discussion so thanks for letting me flex my overeager archaeologist muscles.

2020 has brought me a new fascination with aliens. rewatching the x files sparked my interest and i went on to watch movies like signs, contact, annihilation, the third kind. like, alien movies where the aliens arent in your face. i find that more interesting bc it leaves more to the imagination.

This is kind of a heavy topic but I really am so happy for a new video. My bf is in the hospital, he's a type 1 diabetic and his blood sugar dropped drastically, he's out of it and basically has amnesia, and I've been an absolute wreck and this is what I need to distract myself. @@theamandafiles thank you! He's gotten more stable since I made this comment but there are some possible long term effects from the drop. I was the one who pushed for his family to check on him because I tried to call him on Tuesday and when he didn't answer me it was out of the normal so I am so glad i trusted my gut because fr if I didn't act on my gut he would've been found dead on Wednesday, and tbh that makes me emotional the most.

with the whole alien thing, i dont know why but its always been really fishy to me? i guess that im just rlly suspicious of giant claims when im so skeptical of people lying to me. i admittedly think that my logic is absolutely flawed when it comes to this (i would basically have to see an alien and have a conversation with it myself to believe that they just come to earth and hang out) but i will say that the consistency with ufos being in ancient artwork is sus (if theyre not just photoshopped,,) also i love when amanda drops a video and its just her infodumping the whole time, its so nice and it just feels like im hanging out with a friend ;w;!!! amandafiles more like comfort channel amirite
