Janey, the hot tub area is looking great. Speaking from experience, you don’t want a Crape Myrtle close to your patio and hot tub. You will be dealing with tiny blossoms constantly dropping and blowing on every surface, and collecting in every corner of your patio.

I agree. I have a Huge one on the side of my house and the breeze brings the blooms to the side Patio. Constantly sweeping.

Maybe a podocarpus gracilior tree would look good over it and be evergreen, and add more privacy. Very non-messy tree. Does good here in 9b Florida too.

Good advice about wearing a mask to protect against the dust, also watch out for Monty, he shouldn’t be inhaling the dust either.

Janey, I wouod like to advise you to put the wood holder at the end of the hot tube next to the chimney. When you extend the patio pavers. That way you don’t have it next to your railing. Of course your decision. Hugs from Australia. ☺️🙏🏼🍷

Hi Jenny The hot tub looks so inviting and so much more in keeping with your style of gardening. Both yourself and Jason have done a fabulous job I’ve got a question for Jason, did you finish putting the glue on the gravel at the front of your house and if so how many coats did you do, would you recommend and what brand did you use as I believe you bought from Amazon but could be remembering wrong. Thank you for all that you both do to bring such interesting content to your channel Lorraine x

The screen design turned out great and so are all of the containers. It all looks very inviting and intimate. What do you think of placing an evergreen on that corner of the wood fire hot tub? It doesn’t have to be a huge one, but it would also bring you winter interest. 😊

Love the arrangement around the hot tub and your idea of a tree by the corner! Have you looked at Halleria lucida (tree fuchsia)? It’s such a fun tree because it gets masses of trumpet flowers growing straight out of the branches, so from the outside it’s purely evergreen foliage, but when you look under the canopy (like from the vantage point of a hot tub 😉) you can see the flowers or berries all over the branches

Love the screen!!! The area is developing beautifully. I think if you painted the wood box black it would compliment the screen and the planted pots would really pop against it!!! Your idea of a small table and chairs would nicely complete this fun relaxing space. A small wall of evergreen plants at the end of the tub planted outside the stones would give you your own new garden room and a space for a few more pots and a chance to play with texture against a more solid hedge.

Janey get some NAC ( N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine) it will help you after you finish the antibiotics. I used it after pneumonia and it helped my cough and breathing as well as is healing for the lungs. I am a big advocate of wearing masks when spray painting or using soil or wood chips and wear gloves when handling the soil as you can get terrible bacterial infections from soil. Hope you feel better.

Hi Janey. I have experience handling workers comp cases for laborers in the Sac Valley who contracted Valley Fever from fungus in the soil. It is well known problem for the CA area and in AZ & Mexico. It is a serious disease & affects dogs and other animals as well as humans . It is usually treated by long term antifungal oral medication like fluconozole ? Most doctors in the US know little about the disease. Please google Valley Fever. Also find a local pulmonary specialist who knows the disease and make sure what further care you need. Please avoid dusty or airborne soil as much as possible. Take care!
