This little piece titled ‘Walking Dreams’ is a mixed media artwork created with pyrography (wood-burning), acrylic paint, paint pen and finished with carbothane on pine wood panel.
Walking Dreams is a mixed media artwork evoking a walk through a forest in a dream-like or mind-altered state. It’s style is influenced by surrealism and abstraction and appropriates motifs and styles from a range of art movements - both traditional and contemporary. I drew inspiration from traditional Indian art to create the patterned details in paint pen on this piece.
I tried experimenting with a few different things on this piece, such as continuing the artwork around the corners on this piece, something I don’t often do, and using carbothane- a type of polyurethane finish.
It was on display as part of the art exhibition ‘A4 addict’ in Fitzroy, Melbourne Australia.
Ana Hanson is a mixed media visual artist whose work reflects a wide range of influences. She has a developed practice that blends a variety of traditional and contemporary media and styles. Her influences reflect a passion and love for a wide variety of arts and range from the Australian landscape artists, to contemporary street artists and the Japanese art of anime. Ana’s main focus lies in landscape and nature-inspired art, where she offers a fresh perspective on the natural world, with an artistic voice that transcends boundaries and celebrates the interplay between tradition and innovation.
