I haven't done that in years . I used to love to deco podge when I was younger but haven't thought about it until I started checking out youtube . The brandy globe is very lovely , I like the design of the napkin you used. You have me wanting to go buy the things that I would need to make one myself . If I do I'll post a picture . You created a true piece of art, it is beautiful. I have never done decoupage before and you make it look so easy. I'm not very artistic, what type project would you suggest for a beginner.

Try candles as first project. You can also try decoupaging flat wooden board. Use napkin with white background for first time. Also small images will be easier to glue.

Absolutely beautiful! The napkins I keep seeing on these decoupage projects are incredible and not easy to find online or in craft stores. Using my inkjet printer I printed out some detailed images from Pinterest and to avoid the ink smearing, I think I'll have to bake them first. I'm new to decoupage, so I assume there will be a large learning curve with many mistakes to come. Aggie, if you have a source for these beautiful napkins, would you kindly post a link? I am brand new to idea of decopodge. I have a couple of questions. You said you sealed with varnish. Is there a special varnish for decopodge? Once it's been sealed, with the varnish can it be gently washed? How many coats of varnish does it need.? I love the way it looks and had thought of trying it. It seems like it's a gentle, beautiful process. But I've never thought of myself as an artist and your decopodge is true art.

HI:):) Any varnish will work. I use building acrylic (water based) varnish a lot. You need solvent based varnish if you used metal flakes and two step crackles. The rest of time water based one is fine. There are 3 varieties; gloss, satin and matt so you can choose one you like most. I use gloss most of the time. It is difficult to tell how many coats is needed. if you work with classic paper you might need as many as 40 coats. If you work with thin napkins no less than 10 coats. The more the better:):) Varnish gives depth to your work. Basically surface of your work needs to be perfectly flat, so if you make loads of wrinkles you will need more coats to cover those:) Please try it on flat surface first (wooden board, box) and go for small images with white background. Paper napkins are very thin. If you apply napkin on glass images will not be visible. You can add sand inside if you are worried that glass might break. All the paper, glue, paint is from outside so nothing will burn:)
