The Guard's job is to constantly communicate with the pilot of the locomotive in order to keep the train running smoothly. A goods guard also conveys to the locomotive pilot that the train can leave the station after ensuring that there are no obstacles that can cause an accident. Whenever the train stops, the goods guard's responsibility is to protect the train from theft as per the guidelines laid down by the Indian Railways... This is exactly what The United States needs so that Freight trains won’t have to share tracks with Amtrak trains, this is perfect for more efficient Freight and Passenger train travel in the US
@melaniedrogr951 Жыл бұрын
actually freight can share tracks with passenger just fine. But only if the freight company is not the owner of the tracks, and does not intentionally slow passenger trains to cut costs in maintenance and extra rail infrastructure (specifically sections dedicated to let passenger trains overtake freight trains).
@pBIggZz Жыл бұрын
@@melaniedrogr951 Pretty much. The class 1s have an institutional refusal to schedule, in case a train doesnt leave full, so a 250 car freight train might show up *at any moment* and since its double or triple the length of a passing siding, amtrak *cant* get around it. the Class 1s just pay the penalty. They dont care. Its bad railroading on their part.
@AbBb-d6r9 ай бұрын
Why did they privatise most rail in US in the first place though?
@melaniedrogr9519 ай бұрын
@@AbBb-d6rmoney, as infrastructure is costly (you get it back in cheaper cost of movement fueling the economy, traveler safety and more efficient use of space (kinda important to prevent congestion as well as housing prices skyrocketing in big cities), but short term it costs money), as well as the American idea that a government should be as small as possible/everything that seems like it can be left to the free market should be left to the free market. And off course the freight companies lobbying in congress.
@AbBb-d6r9 ай бұрын
@@melaniedrogr951 well, it is a bad idea tbh because it's not private in many east asian and European countries such as china, germany etc and in these countries also the cost is high, america could have been easily have matched the Chinese and japenese railways if not better ,if their railways have not been privatised

India’s broad gauge is its secret weapon for the future. With broad gauge the freight system can move heavy loads at a high speed. This is the unfortunate opposite in Thailand, the rails are metre gauge for freight, too narrow.
@digimaks Жыл бұрын
India has a broad gauge, yet they are not using it properly - their trains are still standart width, just using wide bogies. They could easily expand train widths, but it's too late now. Plus India relies on locomotive construction from abroad.

Moving at high speed isn't the problem in the USA. It doesnt matter if you can bomb a manifest train down the mainline at 200mph if those cars end up in a yard for 4 days. Yard operations have always been the bottleneck, and now, with the class 1s trying to rip out all the humpyards to lower maintenance costs, that problem is getting even worse.

The two arent related. Even before DFC, passenger trains were given priority over goods trains. Oh yeah? Then maybe stop with the global warming sermons to others and start leading by example? First get 100% electrified railways. India has already done it. About time others that have a superiority complex do it too.

Its a shame they spent all that money to electrify that line, and yet most of their engines are still diesels.

Typical Modi. Modi shoukd have invested in a DFC for 300+ kmph. Modi wasted monies on AC railway stations for civilians, that lose money. Vande Bharat is not profitable. Goods is profitable 100,000%. 😅 Modi is a manifesto PM.

@yahiabhisachhai8025 There is no public transportation system in any nation that makes money. Only goods or freight rail makes money. Globally. So, the way it works is invest in goods rail and the profits are used to invest in public transportation. Globally.

@@nrao8977 Do you know about DFC corridor? if you don't you should search on Google. government knows better than you government already start working on it for example wdfc corridor edfc corridor are currently operational and upcoming corridors are like sdfc corridor cdfc corridor because we want went down logistic cost second thing in india people purchasing power is increasing now thats why government has to modernize their public transportation system.
