I did 4 years in san quen penitentiary, my first day out I was craving poke, so i typed it in on youtube and found your video. What I actually discovered was much deeper than food, I saw the smiles on your families faces, and the feeling of love in your home. It made me want to stop selling cocaine, and meth, and start working a honest job to provide for my family. Maybe one day i'll be able to take my parents to Hawaii for their birthdays!! Cheers man! thanks for the inspiration.

I grew up and lived in Honolulu, Hawaii (heaven!!!) for ten 10 years then I moved away and now I live in San Diego, California. My family are still in Hawaii (Paradise!!!) I always love Hawaii and that's is the ONE place I always wanna come back to. Anyway, Poke is one of my favorite food and I am still not sure how to make it. So I found your video and I have to say you ARE HILARIOUS! I think you are so genuinely funny and delighted that you should be a comedian!!! I love everything in your video and got a good laugh at it 👍. Mahalo for making this video and hope you and your family had a wonderful time in Maui. I will give this recipe a try. Aloha!

@leoasuncion93746 жыл бұрын
"Bugga" = an object (i.e., the poke, the person (usually refer to a male), the meal...); "ono" = delicious, tasty, etc. So "Da bugga look ono!!!" = The poke looks delicious!!!" If it was "Da bugga ono!" = The poke (is) delicious!"

Enjoy your vacation! Haven't been to Maui in 35 years. If you can find it in the market get some inamona (roasted ground kukui nuts) to sprinkle on your poke. Just a little as it is very rich. I was able to find it in the local market and brought it home. Not sure how strict the agriculture import rules are in Korea. Pack it near the top of your suitcase, in case they pull your bags at the agriculture inspection at the airport. Apparently Inamona, Hawaiian Rock Salt, and Li Hing Mui powder look similar to drugs on the X-ray machines ;-)
@FutureNeighbor6 жыл бұрын
I saw on the recipe that Inamona was an optional ingredient. Didn't know what it was.. but good to know. On my way to the airport, I will stop by at the market and see if I can grab a bag. Thanks Wendy!

Wendy Kobayakawa Stark omg, every time my mom sent hawaiian salt in the mail to me, the bags all busted up.
@paradisecafe1236 жыл бұрын
phatsmurf575 my Mom is an expert at sending stuff. She puts anything that can break open in ziploc bags and also uses bubble wrap if needed. Don't wrap the Hawaiian Salt in plastic wrap 'cause it looks like a brick of drugs :-)

Al0ha Daniel! My family loves poke. Sushi grade tuna is hard to come by in Mississippi so I've had to substitute with what's fresh. There are lots of poke recipes to try when you get back home. Salmon, shrimp, crab, octopus, mussels just to name a few of easy to find seafood you can use for poke.

There are other things you can use if you can't find Ahi. Imitation crab, raw white or blue crab, clams just Google Poke and you can come up with so many things to use. Really any seafood. Btw, I live on Oahu. Love these Ohana videos!
