Buffy changed my life in a way i can't even describe. It helped me in my worst and happy moments of my life. I remember as a teenager wondering "what would Buffy do?" (Xander's quote) This video is a treasure. I like every bits of it. I wish to the future generation to love a tv show as much as I loved Buffy and I would like to be able to thank each person who contributed to this dream and helped me to grow up.

Came here for the stunt footage where Sophia Crawford (buffy stunt person) nearly died. Halfway through the video, you can see her pulled up by a net twice. The first time it was set up wrong, despite Jeff Pruitt's directions. You can see she got pulled up wayyy too fast the first time and barely latched onto the side of the net while falling back down. The second time was done as advised(less counter weight) and both Jeff and Sophia are relieved, and NEWLY ENGAGED between these two takes because he was sooo traumatized from almost losing her. Learned this all on Buffering the Vampire Slayer podcast with them.

This is a great video, I love all the behind the scenes we get here, not just a few minutes either but a nice long video encompassing a lot of different things being shot in more than one episode. I really loved seeing Sarah ice skating, I wish there was more footage of that and also more of her in the video period. It seems like a lot of other cast members like Seth Green, David Boreanaz and Alyson Hannigan were there but not enough of Sarah, since she was main lead in the show she is always what fans crave the most to see. I hope you still have more footage like this that you can upload in the future because you haven't added any new videos in several years. Buffy fans love this stuff, please find the time to upload more! Thanks for the behind the scenes Jeff, Buffy's fight choreography was definitely the best when you and Sophia were working on the show, season 5 and onwards just wasn't as explosive in my opinion. The high school seasons of Buffy were the absolute best!

Stunt doubles are usually the unsung (but valiant) heroes of the screen. They do the difficult task so that the screen actors can focus on the acting. Of course, some actors can do their own stunts, but the doubles are there so that way they don't have to, and risk getting injured and stalling production.

Some of you seem to forget that Sarah was, well, BUFFY. Buffy was the star of the show, therefore she was in almost all scenes! Also, Jeff was the director of the second unit (stunt related sequences), so Sarah was probably shooting with the 1st unit with the rest of the cast. And David only did his close-ups, just like SMG. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, there was a huge fight between Jeff and Sarah so I guess it's normal he decides not to include her parts in this behind the scenes.

Girl "Oh~ awe yew okay? :c" Girl 2 "I have Cheetos." 15:46 Mild-mannered "Hi. I'm the vampire that gets his butt kicked by Buffy. Just thought you'd like to know that." guy appears, proceeds to get his butt kicked in the next shot, then introduces his son (in case anyone was wondering what a vampire's son looks like). 20:49 David's pottymouth in general. DID NOT EXPECT. David's other stunt-double leaning in to kiss the demon statue, and someone in the background sneezing at the exact same time. 26:45

No of course it’s a fake rocket
@foobazotify8014 жыл бұрын
@@belkheirinjie6898 Well obviously it's not a real military weapon with an exploding warhead, that would've been madness, but it's a real untethered rocket moving under its own power - you can see it spinning out of control at 3:07 after it hits the Judge. I'd have guessed they might put it on a wire for safety, but maybe you can't get a wire that's both strong enough to control a burning prop rocket and thin enough not to be visible on camera?

They shot a real one when they did the Players Club, tethered though. FWIW, practicals were a thing back then. They didn't have the processing power for visual effects back then. Some scenes i am wondering why sarah didn't do it herself. Like the net scene 13:40? It does not look dangerous. I would love to do scenes like that.
@JeffPruittstunts8 жыл бұрын
+icy31 Thanks +icy31 Here's a chance for me to clear up another behind-the-scenes story: Sometimes the things that are really dangerous appear to be simply 'fun' to those standing around and they comment about how they'd love to do it, while things that look extremely dangerous on screen are really quite safe. Here's what happened with the net gag: The special fx man loaded up a counterweight with hundreds of pounds. I knew this would launch a 100 lb. girl like a rocket when dropped so I asked him to remove the weight. "Buffy" was only meant to be lifted to head height so the baddie could walk over and poke her with his rifle. I told them I could do it by simply pulling the ropes with no weight as I'd done it many times before and I asked them to please remove the heavy counterweight. They agreed, but the head of fx didn't like taking orders from a stunt coordinator and ordered them to put all the weight back (without telling me). So when they released the net Sophia was catapulted higher than the overhead camera and actually exited through the top of the net. She was free-falling but was able the grab the net with her fingers and hook one ankle to stop herself from hitting the ground. She got whiplash, but she survived. It was a close call that could have crippled her. Sarah never trusted the fx guy and always wanted me to protect her from him. This I did and she was never hurt by him. However, after I left the show stunt people were seriously injured by him and the stunt coordinator himself was sent to the hospital with the bones in his face smashed - even though I'd tried to warn him to always recheck whatever the fx guy did before proceeding. I didn't say anything about it - except to tell the fx guy to please listen to me in the future about stunts. He claimed that "the rain" had made his sandbags too heavy. This was total nonsense, but I let it go. It was his ego that nearly killed Sophia (and would have injured her and other stunt people later on - only I never allowed that to happen - regardless of how offended he would become). That night I asked Sophia to marry me and since it made a good story it wound up in one of the official Buffy books. When the writer wrote about it she included what happened with the net gag. So when the fx guy read that he became angry at me over it. I had no idea what the writer was going to put in the book. From that day forward we had problems with him. I simply determined to do my job and try to be nice to him. However, my job included trying to keep the actors (and the stunt people) as safe as possible while putting on a good show. This meant when he'd turn up a wall of fire to maximum (even though half of that wouldn't be on camera) I'd have to ask him to dial it back so the stunt person could safely leap through it. When he'd try to drop a heavy radio onto the head of a stuntwoman (who already had a neck injury) I'd have to intervene. No break-a-way ever worked properly and I'd have to check and rescore them to make sure they didn't crack someone's skull. It went on and on like that. One thing I'd never allow is for him to do ANYTHING remotely like the net gag with Sarah. No way in hell would that happen while I was around. I find the creative and planning side of stunt coordinating to be fun. It's the other things you have to deal with (such as the danger and politics of dealing with ego and scenarios like the infamous 'net gag') that are challenging. Watch it again frame by frame with what I've just told you in mind and see if you can spot what I'm talking about. Yes, the version in the show is simple, but the first take you see behind-the-scenes in this video (not the take used on the show after I'd forced him to take weights off) was very dangerous - though it shouldn't have been. This is why even on simple things we need to use our stunt doubles and actors (and others) need to check their egos. The actors are the faces of the product and when they get hurt everything shuts down. When our stunt people get hurt, another one of us will fill in while they are healing (hopefully).
@Gisela_aka_gies8 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Pruitt Wow thank you for this elaborate explanation and inside information. I think you did a great job on Buffy. I loved the show very much and have everything on DVD at home. I think it is admirable that you take such good care of the actors. I know they are valuable to a show. But then again every human is. It did not looked that dangerous but i see what you mean. She is clearly being catapulted and it does not look like she got hurt by it. I sooo believe you tho that she was hurt and i am sorry that that has happend. If that would have been sarah she probably would have hit the ground hard. Still sucks when people are careless. I hope the fx dude is doing something else now and not hurting people. Thank you again for your answer, i really appreciate it.

+Jeff Pruitt this was so interesting to read because I've read this story before told by other people's accounts but this is the first time I read it from your first hand account.
