Proving the point that its one thing to scratch and use samples and effects and quite another to properly mix - a lot of these mixes sounded out of time and there were loads of chord clashes - mixing properly is like playing a musical instrument. For the uninitiated, these are proper turntables, they’re a midi high bred - notice she never actually takes one record off and put another one on - she’s assigning digital tracks to each ‘deck’ which is then simulating a needle being on a record allowing her to scratch the beginning of the track over the top of the track (assigned to the other ‘turntable ‘) On the few occasions she attempts to mix properly she lets both play at once by using the speed controls to slow/speed up the incoming track to match the speed of the track currently playing - its a fine art and you’ll notice she often misjudges the speed which is why you hear the two tracks clashing against each other - combined with the key of the incoming track not matching the key of the current track leading to chords clashing sounding either flat or sharp. I’m not hating on her and it’s very enjoyable to watch but proper beat matching DJs (as I used to be) are far better and that’s just using a basic mixer and a set of Technics 1200s .
