Hey Dee I went out and bought the BOYA because you suggested it and it’s terrible in a breezy environment even with the foam thingy on it. Is this any better? Have you tried it in wind?
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
My apologies for the late reply. I'm just now seeing a flood of comments now that KZbin added the new comment filter. Mics can only do so much with wind. The bigger the wind screen, the better it helps reduce the noise. You could try to double up the foam on the Boya if you still have it. You can order foam covers really cheap. I set up a motovlog rig once with a double foam cover and it worked really well. This mic you for SURE will need the large wind screen it comes with.

@joshuamuheim89004 жыл бұрын
Hey Dee Thanks a lot for this review! As this is a directional microphone, I'm wondering whether it would work for my specific use case? I'm busking on the streets, and while I'm having a "real" portable PA with both microphone and guitar input, I'd sometimes like to not carry around all that stuff and still be able to amplify both my voice and my guitar. I have an iPhone holder that I can attach to the front of my acoustic guitar, so I can look at my iPhone's screen while playing. I thought: why not just use my microphone to pick up both the guitar and my voice, and connect a little Bluetooth speaker to amplify? While wearing headphones, this works perfectly (sound quality isn't great, but enough for my purpose). But as soon as I connect the speaker, I get terrible feedback issues (no surpise here). So - do you think using a directional microphone like the RØDE VideoMic Me (and placing the speaker in front of myself, facing to the audience), I would get a better result? Maybe you could give it a try? I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you!
@DeeNimmin4 жыл бұрын
For that I would spend a little more and get the Sure MV88+. It has an app that allows you to change how to mic works. Search for that mic in KZbin and see some of the reviews on it, it’s good. If someone was going to choose between this or the rode shotgun mic which one would you go with?
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lindsey, if you're able to get the Rode Video Pro+ shotgun mic, I'd go for that one. It's the one I use the most. You'll need a TRS > TRRS adapter to make it work with your phone but it sounds great. It's expensive but you get what you pay for. Another great mic that cost a bit less is the Shure MV88+ that plugs in like this one. I have a test coming up with that as well. If you're going to spend the $79 for this, I'd spend a little more for a better sounding mic.

Hey Doug, are you using an official Apple lightning port to 3.5mm adapter? I’ve heard of off brand adapters not working with various accessories. Shoot me an email: nimmindee@gmail.com and let’s try to trouble shoot this. I purchased the Video Mic Me, years ago that connected to the headphone jack. I was disappointed with the lack of shielding; the cell phone signals created random noise unless I put the phone in Airplane Mode.
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
Hi Shawn. I've found that to be the case with a handful of mics. Now, it's a habit to always put my phone in airplane mode before I record. I've had messages interrupt me too.
@ShawnWeekly5 жыл бұрын
I always forget. I attempted to write a script for my Android phone to automatically, put it into Airplane Mode when Filmic Pro is open, and the mic is connected. Wouldn't work without rooting my phone. So I opted to get a Movo, and connect it to my Zhiyun Smooth 4. The mic level is a bit lower than my liking bit it's a great result. (Still have to do the airplane mode switch, because of the reason you listed 😛) Now the challenge is having to use the front facing camera on my Pixel 2 with Filmic pro, because the phone gimbal cradle is bulky and blocks the controls. I recently tried to vlog a family vacation (Road trip) on my phone and missed so much footage, because I was also using my phone as GPS, and to listen to podcasts... It was such a hassle to film, and by the time I got things setup the moments were gone. A USB C mic like the VIDEOmic would be a wonderful, in my opinion. Thanks for the content you create I really enjoy your channel.

@DeeNimmin4 жыл бұрын
You have to find a case that has the bottom cut out so the mic will be able to connect properly. I’ve used an Apple leather case with it and it worked but look for one where the bottom around the port has plenty of open space.

If I use the zoom application with this, will I be able to hear both the other party's sound and the title sound with earphones??
@DeeNimmin3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tested this with Zoom. However, it does have a headphone jack in the mic. In theory it works everywhere. What I would do first is plug in your phone headphone/mic that came with the phone and see if Zoom will recognize that. If so, this should work.

Love the review Dee. $79 not bad. But i know some mic. Cheaper than that. Are you familiar with Boya mic.? Lemme know Dee.

Boya is great!

Can you connect this to a camera via the 3.5mm jack on the back? Or can it only be powered via lightning?
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
The port on the back is for headphones so you can monitor the audio. If you need a 3.5mm version, they have one but it doesn’t have the “L” in the name. The L is for lighting.

Hey Dee,i would like to ask you something,can you do a mobizen tutorial for the people who want to record only games(with game sound) and no microphone?
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
They updated Mobizen and took away the best way to do that without recording the sound in your room. The update happened about a month ago.

I have the rode video mic me L and it works great if I’m just doing a regular video but if I Livestream with it the audio is very quiet, very hard to hear when in Livestream, Please help
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
That’s strange. What app are you streaming with?
@FloorsbySouthernboys5 жыл бұрын
Dee Nimmin Thank you so much for your response, very rare for you tubers to respond, while I was working on the problem last night I just found out that I was supposed to use an app to Stream with that, I have never used an external mic , I have always just used my iPhone to stream which did not require an app, so I think I’m I have it figured out not positive yet, again thank you so much for responding
@FloorsbySouthernboys5 жыл бұрын
OK I thought I had this figured out I have the same microphone that you have here, I even downloaded Streamlabs that you use and I still cannot get audio using the microphone
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure the audio is turned on inside of Streamlabs. Have you done that? It’s an icon.

Dee Nimmin I am using an iPhone 6 Plus

Does this work for audio calls as well or just for video recordings?
@DeeNimmin5 жыл бұрын
It will replace the mic on your phone. Probably overkill for voice calls though.

@@DeeNimmin Thanks for kind reply, I was told that it only worked for Video recording. Heard it did not work for say FaceTime calls, phone calls and Whatsapp calls. Reason being is that sometimes while driving calls sound bad when on speaker phone using built in microphone so I was wondering if there were better options out there. I remember hearing that Apple did not allow any other microphones to be used asides from videos.

This would be a great microphone for recording college lectures.
@DeeNimmin4 жыл бұрын
Possibly. If you’re sitting close to the speaker it would be good. Maybe not so much if you’re further away.

Hi Dee, I just bought one of these (Android) from Amazon for $58. Hoping to improve my on board phone audio.

Let me know how it works out!
@GulfCoastGranny3 жыл бұрын
@@DeeNimmin I will! It seemed like an economical compromise until I can figure out and save for a wireless option that will work with my phone.
