If a video card is too hot, first thing i check is how many watts the power supply is, many people upgrade their GPU and will have an under powered PSU, or it will be barely within min recommendations for the GPU - which under heavy load when gaming is not enough, overheating the entire pc because the PSU is working too hard. if your GPU min requirements is 450 watts, = get 650 watt PSU and your system will stay cool. that extra headroom will keep you system from overheating under heavy load.

I just take my case to my garage, open it up, and use my air compressor to blow all the dust out. I do this about twice a year, and never have any problems. Lots of dust collects in the case, on every component, but the air seems to clean it very well.

Great video as always. It's also absolutely true that cpus temps can skyrock when the cooler isn't set in place correctly. I recently had such a case aswell. Going up to 105°C within few minutes just because one screw wasn't sitting correctly, after that it was chilling at ~35°C. I also like the silver of that air cooler. It really fits to the build because the RAM and GPU has also silver accents. Also bequiet is awesome. I've multiple gaming builds with mainly be quiet stuff (case, psu, cooler).

Tip: get a boxed set of M3 and M4 machine screws/bolts. Most of these cooler mountings use those, making it easy to replace wrong, lost or broken screws. Get a tapping set as well, in a lot of cases, busted female threads can be 'retapped' enough to serve the (relatively low-load) situations in a PC. Edit: that is assuming manufacturers do not ship special versions with freedom unit threads to NA. XD

Really like this series, always watch these to remind my self why I'll never be a tech again lol. Seen some real shockers in my time. Now not to be a stick in the mud, but who ever built this, probably shouldn't do it again, or at least, learn how to before they touch another PC. This is a "The Verge" level build. Bad cable routing aside, they mounted the m.2 SSD down to the mainboard with the stand off, and used the wrong screws on the CPU cooler.

0:55 It's also an NZXT case. The 400 and 500 series cases are notorious for horrible airflow. The main reason why I say this is that I have the H440 case from NZXT, and with the X52 AIO, I was, on idle, with the AIO still fully working, saw 60c on the CPU on an older 1700x. I then swapped cases to the Corsair 4000D Airflow, I saw idle temps in the 20s.

Whomever says aircooling is a downgrade, especially with something as good as a bequiet heatsink and fans... is a bit misinformed. Those things are silent as heck, no pump ( which is a weakpoint in most aios ) and cool extremely good. Only thing you could argue is the optics if the user has a case he can see into and simply doesnt like bulky air cooling.

Absolutely love how you so many times go out of your way to help said viewer. Like in this instance, just changing the cooler and showing everything. One thing I have noticed that helps avoiding dust gathering inside the PC is having a glass side panel and the PC on your desk, so that you can see the insides all the time. You won't be looking it gathering too much dust. When dust starts visibly gathering inside, it will be a constant reminder for you to clean it up.

I just did a full clean on mine. Mind you, it wasn't a complete wreck, but since I was addressing an issue with my PC I figured I'd do it anyway. Interesting sidenote though. I uhhhh bent the same exact pins on my Ryzen 7 2700 that one person did from one of your fix or flop videos. They were the ones that controlled heat. My wife ended up fixing it because she's a crafter, and she's used to very small, delicate work. I even told her, "Greg ran into this problem, and broke the pins off!" She doesn't realize how big a deal it was for her to have fixed it, but I know. She's a friggin Goddess! 😂

As much as water cooling is great, a good tower cooler has a couple of advantages; they last forever and have less cables to manage. AIOs have to be replaced every five years and custom loops have to be regularly maintained. I just built my pops a nice little 11400 itx with a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Black and that thing never goes above the 50s even under heavy load, with the fans still running on slower speeds. Besides, a 120 radiator doesn't have much fluid capacity to absorb much and only one fan to push out the heat. That tower cooler is a better bet in this case with the push fan on the cooler and the pull fan on the case. A 240 rad with two fans would've been great for overclocking the system and by the looks of the motherboard, I wouldn't expect much of an overclock anyways.

That was the most detailed PC cleaning I've ever seen. I bet even the screws got a dusting. You should make the owner sign a contract that states that they must keep the PC reasonably clean for at least 30 days after giving it back to them. My CPU gets hot too but then again it's an FX8320 which is housed in a case that isn't the most air flow friendly. I have an aftermarket cooler but it doesn't help with the cooling that much. The cooler may need another fan and the CPU may need fresh and better quality thermal paste applied to it.

Got my computer in November and noticed just a tad of dust when I was cleaning off some fingerprints on the glass, so I got out the blower my wife got(the one Greg uses) and man, I couldn't believe how much dust blew out of the fans and rad. Not even 3 months, and it wasn't even on the floor. Oh and get that duster, it is handy, If you have a small compressor for your art or work station near your computer, don't bother, but mine is loud and heavy, and not near my computer, so rather than moving one to the other, this is an easy thing to use that you are less likely to put off.
