Tell potential clients that any quote given on the phone are subject to change once eyes are on the vehicle! That no work will be done until a visual inspection and a price is agreed on by both parties.

Uh, they can still charge the appropriate amount. The customer was intentionally dishonest or misleading. I've had that happen and changed the pricing real quick and informed that customer that the $1,200 job he had made it seem, had become a $6,400+ job based on the findings and what would need to be done. And that number is still up for change or adjustment based on parts and other factors involved.

@@nasiaa2638 getting paid right, or having a customer that's gonna continuously be deceptive? No thanks. That's why I build and work on firearms. If you cant afford it, then the work doesn't get done. Don't want to pay at the end, I sell the firearm to someone who can. I also don't put $2400 of work into a firearm that's only worth $400-800 unless it's something with meaning. And a build is worth what it's worth and doesn't leave the shop unless we get paid what it costs. I dont sell myself short and wont let myself be under cut. Someone else will do it for less? Then go to them. You'll be back and have to pay more to have what they possibly screwed up.

@@Deathbomb9 The guys did the right thing. The admitted their mistake by bidding sight unseen. That's a big no-no, but they learned from their mistake and didn't take their oversight out on the customer. It's undoubtable they'll get more business from their honest actions.

This was a restoration. Really amazing job. Don't know what the quote was, but you honored it even though it was an error. That truly professional . And you didn't do a mediocre job either. There's a couple of detailing channels I watch, with this one, I miss the commentary explaining everything you do and why, that the other channels provide. Otherwise I liked it. But I have unanswered questions, as I've never seen a boat detail.

I know you guys don't do a ton of boats but here is something I found useful. Mother wax makes this plastic cleaner and conditioner. For best results you need the Powerball. It did such a good job that you could barely tell there was a windscreen and plastic windows. It hurts them also and it works perfect on the windscreen. As always I enjoyed your video and look very forward to the next one

Also if they took the time to condition any fabrics on the boat too. The stains that stayed (stuck) bothered me. I feel more bad for the boat than the owner who neglected it's proper care. They bought a 1000's of dollars boat and didn't properly maintain and protect it.

Proper storage and maintenance!! My younger brother has a 2003 Sea Ray 230.. ALWAYS stored inside year round when not on the water.. cleaned after each trip to the lake.. it is still showroom quality at 18 yrs old now!!

Even with a cover mold grows and it's on everything unless it's shrink wrapped with desiccant. Or you can store it inside. But even covered I have to clean tons of mold off my boat every spring. Not next spring though cause I just built a 40x100 garage.

Nice video. Great job! I had to do almost this same thing to my boat when I got it. Was sitting outside for 2 summers with a snap on cover. The seats weren't as bad as this one but there was a lot of mold. Gelcoat was very faded as well. I have people now offering me twice what I paid for it. (Still enjoying the boat and not ready to sell) ;)

Terrific job , this is a credit to you. Not many people have the patience to do the quality of work that you did. Just remember the difference to making money or losing is not letting people take you. As a previous comment posted, quote prices and retain the right to re-quote after seeing the job. If you lose it you lose it! Good work will speak for itself and be all the advertising that you need. There are always people out there willing to use you!

@@daisycovarrubias5461 Same, it wasn't mixed at all and the editing of the video felt kinda lazy. It takes about 5 min of work to add some basic music tracks in the back. I just muted the video and played a mix track on Spotify. Which made it a much more enjoyable watch. They did a good job with the cleansing though.
