Take a “Deep Dive” demo of the Focus Profile with ADJ’s Mike Turner.
The brightest and most feature-rich Focus Series fixture to date, the Focus Profile is a professional caliber automated profile luminaire designed for theatrical, concert touring and event production applications. It features a potent 400W LED engine, with a native color temperature of 6,700K and a CRI in excess of 70, coupled with an exhaustive collection of beam-shaping tools. These include four, independently controllable, rotating framing shutter blades, which can be used to precisely shape the light output. The unit offers full CMY color mixing together with variable CTO color temperature control (2700K to 6700K) and an additional color wheel loaded with 6 dichroic filters comprised of four primaries together with CTB and CRI filters. Two separate GOBO wheels feature 7 replaceable, indexed-rotating GOBOs, and 8 static GOBOs, respectively, while two bi-directional rotating prisms (3-facet and 6-facet) allow for the creation of a wide variety of aerial effects. Motorized focus, iris and zoom (7 - 45°) together with a replaceable (medium) frost filter and an animation wheel complete the lineup of features offered by this powerful and versatile luminaire.

Love the gobo choices. I like that some of the Focus's gobos are inspired by other fixtures on the market. It's nice when combining fixtures from different manufacturers if they have the same or similar gobos available. A good example in the Focus here would be this gobo (---) (looks like 2 parentheses with a line between them) you see this gobo in a lot of Clay Paky fixtures. It's always nice knowing that if this fixture and a CP fixture encounter each other in a rig that the LD can make them match! Kind of hard to put what I wanted to say into words lol. Hope it made sense. Also, like that the cone and the linear prism create the AUDI logo

This is the first time I've come across printer colours (CMY) on a DMX fixture. Apart from using the framing shutters to produce black-out, I presume that engaging the C M Y colours fully will also produce black-out? As these are subtractive primary colours as opposed to the more normal additive RGB colours

CMY has been around for like 20 years when it comes to lighting. And yes, activating all 3 will almost black out the fixture, since it is a subtractive colour mixing system. But for blackout, the dimmer or shutter will be the best options, before using the framing system.

Elation and ADJ are pretty much just making the same lights at this point. Makes no sense.

Yeah, they are getting very close to each other. But still, there is a huge difference. Elation units are way more expensive as they source the highest quality components on the market to guarantee endurance in their units. ADJ is aiming on the middle market with the current line of products. This results that the units may not have all possible features and that makes them more favorable when it comes to pricing. ADJ is closer to Elation than ever, but they are under the same roof and always will work next to each other. The 'old' ADJ products are now Eliminator products to still serve all DJ's with cool fx with the affordability and quality of the ADJ Group brands.

@@dannykrichel I don’t think a 660w 80 lb ip-65 profile is for the middle market but yeah

@@croissantproductions try finding a similar fixture like the Hydro Profile for that price. That is why it is still middle market.

clearly Mike was struggling to explain further on each point because he was limited to the ADJ Link cues created for the script... why have faders if they can't control DMX values live? this wasn't a deep dive, more like a safely tethered swim

The faders do control dmx values live. It was much easier for me to go through and pre program some of the looks with the hope of saving time. I was hitting the cues in scenes mode. I could have just as easy done the same thing in the subs mode and used the faders. I could have also used the faders in channels mode. Much of the simplicity of this video was decided because most won’t watch a KZbin video longer than 3 minutes. So I was trying to make it quick, yet still offer more insight than our product release videos. Was there something you wanted to see the fixture do that wasn’t in the video? I ask because I’ll be asked to do more videos like this and if others want to see something it’s helpful for me to know.

ADJ moving heads are low quality machines, they break all the time for no reason

I'm not sure if I agree I'm afraid. I have a set of ADJ moving heads and none of them have failed. Chauvet is fairly reliable too, only 1 failure in 6 years. The brands to avoid really are the knock-off brands. I have learnt my lesson there!

Yup. That is why they are used on major productions at the time.
