That's exactly how I've used the Volca Beats. Fun fact: I recall I deliberately used the Snare in a live-set. It was set to maximum fart mode, and the crowd loved it. Analogue drum machines usually have a natural groove samplers cannt replicate, not even the MPC could.

Yes there is just something about them!

Tip for stutter timing - If you hold down 'Function' whilst adjusting timing, you can set precise fractions of timing.

Hey thanks for taking a fresh look at some of these older volcas. I've always really liked most of the sounds I've heard from the beats in videos even though a lot of people seem to denigrate it on forums. (everybody seems fixated on that snare sound) Anyway, this video reminded me of just how good the kick and toms etc sound. Finally picked one up on the strength of your video!

Good video! Kick & Toms are the stars of the Beats but I like all the sounds. The snare can really work in certain minimal tracks and layered with the clap it is definitely serviceable. In all honesty, for best results I recommend recording stems of each sound on its own track to obtain true studio quality. It a terrific deal at $149 new, portable , runs on batteries, packs real analog sounds, and fits easily in a back pack.

I just bought a few Volcas but can not even reproduce the simple jam you showed here. I have so much to learn, and your videos are very inspiring.

You will do great. Keep practising and have fun! 👍

Yeah, it's not so easy. I agree 100% but it's always fun. I love my Volcas. 😊

@@grosswisier I still can not create what I see and hear others do, but admittedly I practise way too little. Time and energy work better than complaining like I sometimes do ;-)

@@rayderrich I guess 90% of us can not too bro. 😅

The toms on this sound better than the toms on the drum brute impact. I quite like the pcm sounds on the beats and manipulating them on the fly.

Awesome tracks man at the beginning of the video! May I ask what other gear was paired with the Beats? This is the last Volca (and the Nubass, Modular also) I don’t own, but you changed my mind I’ll pick one up.

Thanks! Those tracks where mainly produced using sounds from Beats, Bass and Keys. But they are processed using DAW, so a lot of FX and also extra envelopes added.

Thanks for these! Q:How are you getting the (nice)stereo spread? I noticed it on your volca bass video too

Thanks for the comment! I use a splitter, and add a short delay, 10-15 ms, on one of the channels, and also a slight amount of chorus fx. The secret is also reveled in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYmWeoWbm72gopI

On the Techno track you played - how did you create the snare sound?

Nice video . . . is there a way of adding swing to this unit?
@AdamVoxMusic Жыл бұрын
No, I have not found any way to add Swing to Beats. The others, Kick, Drum and Sample has Swing, but not Beats... This is probably because Beats was so early.
