If Matt can convince Milwaukee to make some custom packages where the tool comes with the highest capacity batteries, for a premium of course, that'd be my preference.

This was a great video, and I am glad that I could watch it and get down in the weeds and understand a lot more about the science behind the batteries and both prove and disprove a lot of the things that have been going on around this technology. The maintenance and longevity side of the conversation was some of the most valuable, especially around the chargers. But guess what, you'll have to do another video soon because of all the new stuff they are coming out with. Well, maybe more towards the MX line of batteries, because I'm sure you'll have plenty to research, play, work with when the new tools hit the market, and give more in depth and detailed videos for us to enjoy. Not sure if you watched their release video last night, 1 of three, I believe, that will showcase a lot of their new offerings as well as future creations and upgrades.

I got an m12 fuel 1/2 drill. I install shelving. I can run the 6.0 batt all day and it still shows 4 lights at the end of the day. 2.0 batt shows 2 lights.
@mikemorgan50154 жыл бұрын
FYI that 6 bay M12/M18 (3 each) charger will charge 3 of the 6 bays at a time. It operates the same as having 3 rapid dual chargers in one package. The 12v bay corresponds to the 18v bay across from it. Install a 12v first then an 18v across from it, only the 12v will charge until its full then it will go to the 18v. If you install the 18v 1st it will charge first. So, say you need one 12v and two 18v batteries asap, install the 12 in one bay and don't put an 18 in the bay opposite it, but use the other 2 bays and you'll be charging 2 18s and the 12 simultaneously. Hope that makes sense. It's a great charger.

Too bad Milwaukee doesn’t offer some sort of trade in rebuild or credit system towards a new battery for their extremely expensive batteries like the 12.0 when they get out of balance. About 80 bucks for the 15 21700 Samsung 40T batteries they use. 250-300 for a new battery

I’m having a hard time deciding among Milwaukee, Dewalt and Makita. I’ve been watching a lot of VCG Construction videos.
@DriveLineZ4 жыл бұрын
My old Contractors job, we each used 2 persons DeWalt, 1 person Makita, and 2 persons Milwaukee. DeWalt makes better construction tools, especially circular saws, jig saws, blowers. DeWalt is a bit cheaper and take to abuse better than the other 3. Dewalt tools seems to either have better batteries or tools that are more efficient. Its not a huge difference but just my expereince. Drills are a toss up between Milwaukee and DeWalt. For working on cars, the Milwaukee impact series is the BEST. None of them come close. Milwaukee is great for mechanics. Makita makes a wonderful corded die-grinder, but everything else seems outclassed by the other two. Whatever you choose, stick with it because of the batteries.
@E90M3VISS4 жыл бұрын
Blessed Garage thanks for the input. I agree with you. it always seems to be Milwaukee vs. DeWalt but Makita has been mentioned has having good tools. I notice Milwaukee and Dewalt are so big in terms of product offerings. I have two corded Dewalt drills I bought years ago because I’ve been hesitant of the batteries but now it seems like batteries are the way to go since they have improved so much. I bought a Milwaukee organizer recently and I love it. I replaced my Kobalt version which they probably don’t make anymore. That was before Lowe’s started carrying Craftsmen.
@shadyassassin084 жыл бұрын
@@DriveLineZ dewalt does not take the abuse better but thats just my experience. Its all personal preference to be honest. I personally would never buy makita because they have always broke way to easy for my liking. They all have some tools they make better then the others its just finding the brand that preforms the best and feels the best for what your doing. I personally went milwaukee held up the best out of them all for what i do and have tons of power. (Carpenter for a commercial general contractor) Dewalt i would say was easily second choice. Its a hard choice take your time do alittle research and testing if ya can. Good luck

The 1.5ahs are pretty much just the low cost budget battery for the standard non fuel tools. I find I don't typically use them since the other batteries are higher capacity. I like the cp3.0's on impact drivers and the new brad nailer/crown stapler. I'd also assume it would do well on the new framing nailer, haven't got one yet. The 4.0 and 5.0 seem like old tech that will eventually be replaced by the HO lineup. Milwaukee still puts out 5.0 for most kits though. The 6.0 and 8.0 I believe are the same size, so 8.0 seems better. The 12.0 is probably going to last the longest as it doesn't work nearly as hard. I found the rocket tower lights to draw a lot of power. I typically use 12.0's and they'll run down by the end of an 8hr day. Miter saws and circular saws, sawsalls dont use as much. The trimmer and blower however do, the blower uses a lot of power.
@bobbyRC22 жыл бұрын
I think the 5.0 will still have its place since it is shorter in width and length (albeit taller), than the CP3.0. While the XC5.0 also weighs about 4 ounces more, it has 67% more runtime. Until the high output CP series can match the XC5.0 in runtime, the 5.0 will still have a place I really like it on impact drivers since it's lightweight and can last a very long time
@DesignsElement2 жыл бұрын
@@bobbyRC2 ye I think so as well now, Milwaukee seems to be going more for profits than innovation. I'm branching out into different brands for tools Milwaukee either has not made or the price point just doesn't make sense.

Milwaukee makes a m18 regular xc battery like the xc5.0, in a 6.0 amp hour version, ive never seen anyone using it, talking about it, or have it. figured you would have it since they sent you one one of everything but i guess not! Curious to see if you end up looking into getting them as your highest capacity choice for a regular m18 xc, instead of a 5.0. I’m sure the difference is minimal, but i know an obsessed mind wouldnt let it rest knowing it exists. The dual m18 charger is different from all the others as it simultaneously charges both batteries! as opposed to sequential. Great informative video on milwaukee’s batteries. probably the best ive seen or heard. keep it uppp.

The guy doesn't work for milwaukee so he wouldn't know anything for sure. And the CP M12 batteries drive the size of the grip on the tool so putting 21700 cells in the cp batteries would make the grip too large.

This is probably a stupid question but, if you dont use the batteries what causes them to drain
@benwrightsman31374 жыл бұрын
Because they are electro chemical systems they have an internal resistance which slowly drains the battery to dead. Some chemistries can age in a matter of months other chemistries can take several years. Lithium ion fades less than others but it still has a natural fade. The terminology is self discharge, which happens over storage life. It is always best to cycle them within a six-month window to help maintain the capacity as best as possible. If you let them sit too long without cycling they can have a irrecoverable fade.

I think Matt is deep diving into power tool battery technology so he can make an educated decision on what to use and therefore, what to offer on the site. This video feels more like it's on here for the ones that are interested in how power tool batteries work. Mind you, you have to willingly click on this video to watch it. Although they use milwaukee as reference, obviously, I hardly feel the "milwaukee is the best, you should buy it too!" vibe. To me it looks like some guy trying to understand how stuff works. I doubt he uploaded this thinking " this is going to be the best commercial for milwaukee ever". More like : "If I want to know this stuff, I bet some of them wants to too". I get your point though. Do you have any clue how hard it is to explain to the older generations. Man took me months to understand even the basics back when I first started vaping which required 18650 cells. We have run all the brands, Milwaukee is by far the longest lasting, most capable brand money can buy. They're always 4-5 years ahead of everyone else seemingly. Still love the Makita saws tho so don't get me wrong, just cordless tools always burn up and out, while the Milwaukee still runs. It's almost a joke the ass whipping they take. Need to finish the job but it starts raining extremely hard? No problem (tho we always are very concerned about the tools) they're always still going asking for more. Oh it's 10 below zero WITHOUT wind-chill, no problem they're ready to go, but will not charge you must warm her up to about 18-20 degrees then she will charge. Honestly, tho we took them outta our main job site circulation, the original set of 3.0 batteries are still working....last time we knew for a fact of their age and still running them, they were 10 years old. I know how stupid it sounds, or you're thinking obviously they weren't used much, but they were. Figure 4 outta a normal 5 day week. All temps, in the work crates with hammers, flatbars, and many other tools ontop at times. Through all the drywall, sawdust, insulation even cleaners and other chemicals. We had 2 different sets of Makita die within a month from one another. Seriously too. So pissed off this was why we went to Milwaukee, as they were a joke for a long time compared to Makita and DeWalt, then all of a sudden they woke up and are dominant. We all pray they don't sell out like so many tho. Porter cable is a good example. My old many still uses his extremely old sawzall at times they were top shelf back in their day, now they're woman type work jokes legitimately sold at fckn Walmart.
