@Solstin6 ай бұрын
That definitely seems to be the favorite design so far :)
@emberborn32926 ай бұрын
The obelisk does seem like it would fit better with what you're going for with the castle plans and how close that area will be to everything, but a rusty old boiler left over from the Before Times would also be cool. Maybe working in some steampunk elements with other parts of the build would let you still do something like that in a better location, even if they wouldn't have the hot water facilities without a little creative action. I'm looking forward to the mounts and boats with the update, when it happens, too. Some friends and I are always going on adventures to find things to plunder with the Better Ruins mod, and I'll be eagerly seeking out whatever new dungeon or location gets added for the story update. I love the lore in this game.
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
Yeah, if I can't figure out a way to make steampunk elements blend well with the castle and obelisk right there then at least the proper workshop design built into the mountain will lend itself to that! Solstin scolding rooster for over-crowing : “Do you just see the sun’s pillows and blankets (clouds) and think, ‘Ah, my time has come’ ?” Great boiler room build! Suggestion: Instead of wood plank fences, perhaps iron bars (like those found in certain large, locust-infested ruins) would give you a better view of drifters in the hot water. Also, a lightning rod(s) would be good to protect your chickens from lightning strikes-Kurazarrh lost two different batches of chickens to lightning, and after the first loss he assumed that foxes or wolves had killed the chickens through the single fence line, then turned his chickens area into Fort Knox, but still lost the second batch of chickens. That was when he noticed that each time there had been a nasty thunderstorm with much lightning in his farm area. Kurazarrh had no further losses of chickens after installing the lightning rods. 😁
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
I would have preferred iron fences for sure, but they're not craftable and I haven't gone to the furniture trader to check. I doubt I'd have enough gears to get enough at this point yet. I can always plug up the water flow later on and go in for renovations once we have more rusty gears! As for lightning rods, I'll definitely have to get to making some before populating the chicken coop!

@@Solstin Alternatively, you could build it up into a tower. At the top make a small room and stick a clock on the outside. You could say historically that when Eisenholm was first settled in the days of earthworks and pallisades that tower was the first stone structure built. As a lookout and later as the home of a minor lord before it just stood there in the middle of town and got repurposed as a clock tower. Alot of European cities do that with old towers. I had to set that to B because I kept fat fingering Z instead of X to swap tongs to my hand to put away... there's really no need to have such a quick on the fly access key to change bulk settings, B is further and B-ulk so duh... xD Also there's a mod called Tree Tapping that adds a copper sprew and when crafted with a bucket makes a tapping kit. The tapping kit can be attached to a resin scar on a tree and it collects resin over time and a slightly increased rate. Instead of 1 every 8 day you get 6 every 2-3 days or so, it makes a big difference and takes the struggle of resin out if the equation for mechanical materials. The slow and low rate of resin I feel is a bit cruel considering we can't "scar a tree" to produce resin, so this mod kinda makes sense from an IRL standpoint. A tapped tree produces more resin than a scarred tree unless its a massive and possibly fatal scar and well we can't scar trees we grow. That being said I feel the tree tap is an OK vanilla esk mod (cuz vanilla is kind of about irl processes of survival)

Will the obelisk, (if that's the choice) have designs up the side? I think it could be pretty nice!
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
I'm thinking alchemical symbols etched into the sides. I tried it out in a design testing world and I really like how it turned out!

LOVE your videos. What will the focus of the next one be?
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
The next one is focusing heavily on laying out the footprints of several buildings so we've got a blueprint for how everything will start to fit together! A part of me wishes there was a colorful, easy to get block similar to wool from the other block game, just to make the planning stage more visually distinct from the natural landscape, haha

@@Solstin Are you using Bricklayers??

Not currently, but I honestly should just for the extra building material options!

Love your videos and loving vintage story wish I could play but sadly can't. Question how often do you post a video?
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
Glad you're liking the videos! I was trying to stick to roughly once a week for uploads, but as the things I'm doing in-game have started requiring more grinding for materials and time to work on designs, it's started to move into the realm of a couple weeks per video. I'm hoping to get things back to a more consistent upload schedule but between full-time work, D&D campaigns, and other married life obligations, I don't have a set upload schedule. The videos kind of just get uploaded when I manage to get them done for now!

#solsayswhat Can you do some lines said by War from Darksiders?
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
I can certainly try!

Why not a statue or some sort? Could look nice on that base.
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
The plan has definitely evolved into having a statue on top of an obelisk-like pillar with runes carved into it. I've been practicing some statue work in preparation since that's one type of building I've not really touched lol

yer gonna install the NPC mod for the town populace?
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
Once there's enough buildings around for them I'll look into the village mod. For now I like having to go out and explore to buy things from merchants, it gives me more of a reason to venture out :)

Watch tower or keep? Sona steam room?
@Solstin6 ай бұрын
The castle walls will be a stone's throw from the boiler room, so we'll definitely have watch towers in the vicinity :)
