I live in NZ and have never shot game with a shotgun, only clays.... it looks like great fun...and great company....I am old now and short of winning the big national lottery I will never stand on the land of my birth (England) again. I came here at 16 in 1959 and it is a wonderful country, but as I have become older, almost 80 now, I miss my native land more all the time..... I have often wondered where I would be in life now had I not come to NZ all those years ago. We have great hunting here.... deer and wild pigs are classed as vermin, so one can hunt them any time, and there's plenty about if you are fit, which I am not now.... most of NZ is standing up on end and walking the hills takes a fair bit of energy. Thanks for another entertaining video,,, It is truly said that good friends and warm gun are about all one could ask of a day out. :-)

When you visit the US next season. Try to go out hunting in public land. It’s a completely different animal. Lots of walking, understand wild bird’s behavior, and much needed luck. Sometimes we get lucky and other times we don’t. I just went out pheasant hunting in the snow last weekend. My legs were tired, my dog was bleeding from the sharp frozen grass. We jumped about 15 hens and one rooster that we missed. Tough hunt but was satisfying

Enjoy ethical hunting (mostly antelope like Kudu and Springbok in South Africa and have done some faloconeering in Qatar) The tradition and camaraderie and use of shotgun looks rather pleasant in this situ.👍👍👍 Greetings from Durban.

How is hunting regulated where you are? Is individual hunting allowed, or only group drives? Do you have to be a member of a hunting club?
@tgsoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hunting isn’t really regulated to harshly. You need permission from a landowner which is harder than if sounds. Individual hunting is allowed, and is very popular for ducks and pigeons. Communal, organised shoots like this are traditional and popular.

looks like a fantastic day guys. great video. A novice question from me but do they game keepers catch the birds again in prep for another shoot or once they are released they are deemed gone? I'm am unsure of how it works (game not shot and paid for would surely be a risky business) and I just realised how stupid my questions sound, lol!
@tgsoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
😂 all birds are released a few months before the season to become wild. It’s the keepers job to make the estate a nice place for them and to stop them leaving where possible. They will end the season having shot a portion of what is released, but far from all.

@adambiggadike20832 жыл бұрын
Ok Jonny one thing why do you prefer bottom barrel first to top barrel. I normally shoot top first
@tgsoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
🤔 the gun is built that way, could have it changed over, but don’t notice that much of a difference for reload speed.
@robpowell91622 жыл бұрын
Bottom barrel is also more balanced and inline with the gun, so less recoil so if you need a second shot then you're still aiming better. The top barrel will push the gun slightly so you'll be off target. At least that's the theory of why you "should" shoot bottom first. Harder to reload a single shot mind.
@robpowell91622 жыл бұрын
Wait.... am I missing something? We all watched the "building my new gun" video (excellent vid), but you had the stock changed. The new stock had really unique kidney shaped grips. The one on your gun today looks like the "rejected" one..... have you kept both stocks and change depending on type of shooting? Or did the really uniquely shaped and gripped kidney one not feel right so you went back to option 1? JC, I am sorry.... but I need to know about your wood quality, and what happened? I really loved the second stock and that it felt going against tradition, yet you are back to a standard stock? Unless that's a different gun altogether, but I thought it was yours, and that this one is yours? Sorry for being nosey! :D
@tgsoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
😂 the first stock wasn’t rejected, it was just designated the game stock. Instead of changing back and forth, Jim lent me the old barreled action for the season. This was also filmed back in October 😂 so there was no choice.

Jeez Rob... eyes like the proverbial 'shit house rat' there fella... 10 out of 10 for observation👍

@@tgsoutdoors aha that makes more sense! So the kidney one is on now and staying? Brill! Oh and thanks for taking the time to reply! Shame it’s not a budget gun to do a tgs mk2 gun collab with them! Keep safe :)
