Pokot is a very peaceful place, I've seen ten's of people come into our land with negative attitude but leave with changed mind. We still have our challenges and bad sides but we tend not to disturb visitors. Welcome again I live along Chemolingot- Tot at a place known as Koloa.
@TheMaraNomads1920MN Жыл бұрын
We totally agree with you!! The Pokot people are amazing, friendly, resilient, warm, kind and many more things! We had an awesome time with them. We never even for a single minute felt unsafe. Its other people who made us very apprehensive about Pokots and this fear vanished when we met them. As you have seen everywhere in the video, we laughed, cracked jokes, shared stories with old women, wazee, warriors, young herders, everyone. We are very happy to have shown this amazing side of the Pokots that no one shows. We were excited to experience their unique charm firsthand. We shall continue breaking down the negative stereotypes about them and let people know how great they are. Looking forward to connecting and immersing ourselves in the beauty of Pokot. See you soon! 🙌

Most tribes are friendly people. Its the circumstances and situational environment they find themselves in whereby each one of them have to protect their territory and way of living. So when this is transmitted in the news we get the impression of what a violent tribe or tribes they are. Am sure they are friendly folk to visitors whom they see as no threat to their way of life.

@TheMaraNomads1920MN Жыл бұрын
Yes! Correct. And then the 3rd one is the Ngare Ndare one. Those black structures are water tanks built by GDC who were prospective for geothermal vents in the area. We are not sure what happened. They also went to Mt. Paka, a huge mountain, taller than Silale, and not so far from it.

None. At Silale, we were inside the Pokot community land, as their guests. They don't molest or harm or disturb guests. Very peaceful and amazing time we had there. In the near future. For now the 30 year old dragon will continue doing her bit, and she is not complaining. She has not even maxed out. The stuff on the roof are not that heavy, they just look bulky. Like the swag is just a tent and normal mattress, very light. Also, a trailer cannot make it to some places we go to. We shall see.

At this moment a watch your trip to the hotspring.why did you have to go with armed guards?
@TheMaraNomads1920MN Жыл бұрын
Kapedo is inhabited by Turkana people. But the area (the flat area and the mountain - Mt. Silale) behind the hot spring are inhabited by the Pokot people. These 2 communities do not get along well. The hot springs sits like an unofficial border between them. People have been shot by unknown people coming from the mountain. So one must take armed rangers if you want to the hot spring. However, when you go to the mountain itself (as a stranger from far away, like us), no one will molest you or harm you. Its very peaceful there and the area around Silale since you are now on Pokot area and not a border point.
