Hi Chris, is this module part of the MSc in Scientific Computing and Data Analysis at Durham? I am considering applying for a masters at Durham but there didn't seem to be too much of a focus on machine/deep learning in the course summary. I was also looking at the MSc in Data Science but it says it is intended as a conversion course rather than for comp sci grads

Hi Josh, nope this is an undergraduate course, so a bit more introductory - the MSc is good though and this would be excellent prep for it!

Deep learning is indeed developing faster and faster, which requires us to understand it in essence, including biological perspectives, historical perspectives, etc. I hope I can build a more systematic understanding of deep learning through this course. By the way, Teacher Willcocks's English expression is very fluent, and it doesn't sound particularly strenuous.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the lectures, I found them very interesting - I've ended up neck deep in image recognition deep learning without really understanding what I'm doing! I'm now backing myself out and learning the basics and these lectures and slides are invaluable!
