Deep Purple - Live In Stuttgart (German TV 1972) VERY RARE FOOTAGE!

Now here's something "interesting" !
For the first time we can see almost full TV Report from German Tv for the concert held at Stuttgart's Böblingen Sporthalle from February 10th 1972.
At the beginning you can see the audience marching into the hall, and enjoying themselves before the show (with songs Fools & Fireball in the background). Afterwards we can see the band in dressing room preparing for the gig, and Gillan & Blackmore talking to EACH OTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the first time i saw them talk on a such close distance and they bought seem to be in a very good mood.
After that positive shock, we can finally see a longer performance of Highway Star (which i've never seen before)
So i think this is one of those golden gems for all Purple fans where ever they are !!!!!!!!!!!!

Gillan seems to be animated when he's talking to Blackmore whilst swinging his left arm about. I would like to know what he was saying The stage set up looked great for the gig. Highway Star sounds good. It's a great pity that the whole gig isn't available.

Haha at the beginning the speaker calles the visitors pubescent just before the camera shows young adults ~20/25 years old ;) Well the TV-report is of 1972, which explains that the media had prejudices...

wow 8 DM .... 4€ ...... ca 4$.... das waren noch Zeiten.... those were the days! for those of you, that don't speak german.... later on during the concert the police opened the doors to the hall to let more people in for free.... everything was peaceful. "I love it, I need it, I feel it...."

You never see Ian and Ritchie actually conversing with each other for if you did and heard the way they communicate with each other, you would never be able to stop laughing. They are so brilliant together and are very tricky to unnatural spirits, just as Satan is, something the media tries to hide.

I saw them on that tour but not in Germany. It was new York. I was 16 teen yes old.

I was there 15 years old. Father was stationed at Patch Barracks. We would ride the shuttle bus to Panzer and Robinson Barracks. Was on the floor front center about 20 feet from stage. Remember two things. The music was so loud, I tried screening into the ear of my friend next to me and he could not hear want I was saying. And second the smell of weed that was being passed around where we would sitting.

A Deep Purple concert for 8 D-Marks, that's 4 Euros today - somebody get me a time-machine! Besides that: The commentator didn't have the faintest apprehension or sympathy for the band. He just didn't recognize their significance in Rock history

the commentator seems a little bit disgusted. he pauses before saying "concert" and "pure art appreciation". it is also mentioned that there are no seats (!) at the hall and that the band lives in a 5 stars hotel but they are dressed in the "international vagabond and hippie uniform" :)

So what about all it?! Five, possibly greatest stars at that time have had to ask you for advice and permission, wich clothes to wear in 5 stars hotel maybe!!?? It shows how little you understand rock music, village ''ubber man''.

I saw Purple in this era in Offenburg, Germany in January '73. Unfortunately the first part of the show was marred by unruly fans who angered by an interminable delay before the band finally hit the stage, began firing drinks cans and bottles at the stage. The roadies naturally didn't appreciate this and I saw one of them pick up a bottle that I assume he'd been hit with and fling it back into the seething crowd with force! Anyway this nonsense went on for awhile until finally the house lights dimmed and the cheer went up to a deafening roar. The lights once more flooded the stage as the band broke into the opening song (don't ask me which one, it's been almost 50 years and I believe we may have been indulging in a mind altering chemical or two.) Anyway the ugly vibes carried on a good way through the first 30 minutes or so with Ritchie refusing to play any solos! This of course is what I personally had shown up for and my hero was refusing to play! The agony! Finally however Ritchie started to fire off a dazzler here and there and shortly thereafter he was blazing away in true Blackmore style. Anyway the passage of years has left the memory of that night glistening in a silvery patina of sweet nostalgia. I never again got a chance to see Purple and certainly not at the height of their considerable power when even their off nights were better than most other acts at the pinnacle of their abilities. I feel so privileged to have seen them at all, let alone during their most productive and glorious years when with out doubt they above all other bands of the period ruled the rock roost.
