I would have loved to have seen them back in 1985 at their peak.

Always loved purple but was very confused about their history. Better understanding now thanks to you. Good job as always and keep em coming. ✌🏻

Glad to hear the review helped clarify things. They’ve had so many line ups it’s hard keeping them all straight and knowing what makes each one unique.

Very complete history of Deep Purple. I enjoy more the Deep Purple of Ritchie Blackmore and his work with Rainbow. Regards from Tijuana

I agree I definitely enjoy the Mark II line up with Richie Blackmore best but have also grown to love some of the other lines up like with David Coverdale or their current line-up with Steve Morse and Don’t Airey. They’re all very different but I think each have some very unique qualities.

I bought it. :) On its way in the mail as I write this. Really looking forward to exploring this set. Knocking at your back door has one of the greatest rock intros of all time I think. Incredible song. 😄

Cool! Glad to hear you were able to find a copy. I agree that Knocking At Your Back Door has a classic intro almost as much so as Smoke On The Water or Highway Star. They were always good at those.

Wow that sounds like one heck of a line up!! I would have loved to have seen that. While Deep Purple are popular they are criminally underrated and deserve so much more attention than they get.

Mr. Snyder, nice to see these reviews. I was wondering, do you have the Learn, Listend.........I don´t remember but it is another Deep Purple box set. On that box you can find quadraphonic versions on some MACHINE HEAD songs. Hope you can make a review on that one. Hope to see news next friday. Take care.

I don’t recall hearing about that one when it was released but it was a UK only collection. Looks like it could have been interesting. It’s out of print now but if I ever run across it used I’ll pick it up. I love all the remixes they did in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I’ve got a best of disc from them that uses predominantly those remixes and it sounds great!

Hi Brendon, another great review with an informative history of the band. I'm not a huge Purple-Fan but there is a lot of awesome stuff, no question. Maybe again a little bit controversial: What do you think about the "Slaves and Masters" Album? Mostly rated this as their worst album... i must say, i like it; "King Of Dreams", "Fortuneseller"... a lot of good songs, surely not the highlight in the catalogue, but all in all a strong album in my opinion. My alltime favorite -Purple-Rainbow-Whitesnake-Song is still "Catch the Rainbow"... hmmm, what a fine slowly bluesy epic. Greetings from germany... bye and take care.

I’m a big Rainbow and Joe Lynn Turner fan so the Slaves And Masters album is one of my favorites. But I also tend to like the less commercial albums that are underplayed. I also really like the follow-up album The Battle Rages On which sold even less.
