I am so mad that I discovered valve trombones existing AFTER dropping out of band in high school because the slide trombone wasnt a very nimble solo instrument, and that was all I wanted to do Now at age twenty three i am going to BUY ONE OF THESE and PLAY IT beautiful playing btw, your tone is amazing

I bought my Conn Victor valve trombone back in 1980. For years it was mostly an instrument to play around with after my main work on tuba. In 2002 I was part of a jazz band startup which already had a tuba, and I started playing the Conn Victor a whole bunch and got much better on it. Twenty years on I feel that I am getting a lot more of what is there out of the instrument. I love valve trombone. It is its own instrument--I rarely try to imitate the sound of a slide trombone. You can hear some of my playing on YT at Monks Jazz Silver Creek Jazz Band. I am always glad to hear that someone else has found satisfaction playing this fairly rare and unique instrument. Well done!

I've long preferred the sound of the valve trombone to that of the slide trombone (though I prefer baritone/euphonium to both). Count this recording as part of the evidence.
