An amazing song written by Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale closes the album "Come Taste The Band" published in 1975.It is the only Deep Purple studio album featuring Tommy Bolin, who replaced Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. The song itself is a true gem, not only musically but also in terms of lyrics. 2022, still listening (will do the same in 2023 and well beyond)... this song never gets old, I swear! And, just as with the title of the studio album on which it is featured, it has grown old just like wine! It gets better and better, because, after all, we keep on movin' through life... So much beautiful emotion, musical talent, devotion/dedication, and love in this particular composition, very much unlike most of today’s bands (regardless of their genre; that is, in my humble opinion). Tragic that he checked out so early from this life. I would love to have seen how Purple would have developed with him had he not. Ritchie will always be my top axe slinger with them, but I love and appreciate everyone who’s stepped in to fill that slot for DP. Rovere, when you heard this song first time at my place, you said that it is an piece of art. You were right my friend! So whenever I'll hear it, It will always remember on you! This is one of the greatest songs in DP's history, no matter what lineup it is. An amazing song with outstanding musicianship, thoughtful lyrics, and tight harmonies. My only gripe about this song is that the guitar solo at the end should have been a minute longer - to just finish the song majestically. It's too short, and it sounded amazing even though it was brief.

Simply magnificent. Jon’s solo is clean and beautiful, very appropriate to the feel of the song. Overplaying on either of the solos would have diminished the final product. Glenn Hughes’s bass sound is incredible, lows, mids, and highs in perfect balance but with that growl. I’d love to know how Glenn and Martin Birch EQ’d the bass - I think he used a Precision Bass on this album - to get that sound. The very last note is a glissando down Glenn’s E string and it just finishes the song off perfectly. I agree, one of their best ever.

Ten years ago, I was moving from my old home and i had moving load in trailer. It was an early sunrise, had been driving all night and the car was passing by a field. I was listening to this song from car speakers, when suddenly I looked to my left and saw a swan flying next to the car just a few meters away. tears flowed from my eyes, we went together for a while, the swan and me. Just a "once in a life time" situation. Suddenly i was dropped in real life strong emotions music video.

Гиллан тоже работяга, пашет до сих пор дай Бог каждому...был на его концерте в Питере в БКЗ Октябрьский, Ян выступал с симфоническим оркестром...это было СУПЕР...представляете себе SMOCK ON THE WOTER под скрипки???...я тоже не представлял, пока не услышал вживую...это было здорово...лишнее подтверджение тому, что DP творили настоящую музыку...а что касается сравнения Гиллана и Ковердейла, то на мой взгояд они просто поют в разных стилях и каждый в своём стиле великолепен...Гиллан на мой взгляд более роковый певец, а Дэвид более лиричен...мне нравятся они оба, каждый хорош по-своему, сам по себе, и я рад, что вырос на их музыке и на их творчестве...в том же БКЗ лично видел на сцене концерт WHITESNAKE, суперудовольствие получил, Ковердейл зажигал, как и 40 лет назад...
