I am from a drum and bugle background. The drums when I marched were heavy. I can only imagine what those ones weigh. I also love the eagle paint on many of the drums even though I am a Canadian. Somehow a beaver painted on a drum doesn't hold the same effect. As far as a drummer I can say those lines are really polished to perfection. The fifes sound great and this muster is on my bucket list

I grew up in drum & bugle corps as well. I painfully remember those old 15" stainless steel Ludwig snares, and thick wood-shell Slingerlands. But most rope drums, despite their physical size, are featherweights compared to what I started out on. The shells tend to be thin and resonant, and without any hardware or metal rims adding to the weight, most rope-tension snare drums are quite comfortable in comparison. I hope you can make it to the muster one year! The other big event of the year is the Westbrook Muster which takes place in August. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bneUfZWIfc6SbKM

@gbrhythm go those Ludwig Chromeowood or as we called them Ciropractor heaven. I started on bass and we had a 42" thunder bass called Bertha that I took off every second I could. Thank God they wouldn't buy heads for it so I got the 36". Then I moved to tenors Chromowood 13" 14" and 16". They were any lighter but at least I was safe from the wind. If the wind hit Bertha you went for a ride. I nearly took out 4 senior citizens once turning a corner
