This was ‪@RyeorReal‬ and I's first attempt at the new Deep Scan speedrun strategy. This was on hazard 2 to test, and honestly I don't anticipate much difference with a hazard 5 run. You can view Ryeor's in-depth analysis of the sequence break here:

This was our first attempt at a co-op speedrun for Deep Scan. With 3 or 4 players it can theoretically be faster. We've been doing a lot of research and analysis into what we think will be the best strategies for future runs. I'm thinking with the perfect seed, it will be around the 2 minute and 45 second mark if everything goes as planned.

Nicely done!! It was cool to see it in the full sequence and that as long as Molly has her path and you call her into the geode, it works so neatly. Very cool to see!!

Nice, was curious how a full run would look after watching Ryeor's vid the other day. Not sure if this was related to your conversation about 6000/7000 etc., but in my (brief) testing a few months back I found the morkite cave gen seems to follow the south west rule (for the most part). E.g., just like escort/mining missions are laid out along the south west, the morkite cavern seemed to nearly always(?) generate underneath the south west section of the cave - so this could be a way to roughly find it on most seeds without needing DRGLib's overlay. I am absolutely prepared to be corrected on that because my testing wasn't super thorough tbh, but that's something I remember noticing. Also in case it sparks ideas, I was able to void jump into the cavern safely as engy (the whole, plat at feet to glitch into the void and jump through space to teleport inside), but learning about the requirements for connected caves I suspect that particular exploit is not really going to be viable at all - at least not in solos/duos. One minor suggestion for optimization: switch to the mag upgrade on plats (8 instead of 4 per reload). As a plat mining addict myself, this definitely can make a difference especially when it looks like these speedrun timings could be super tight. Cool vid!

I also found out you could void jump in, but also found it doesn't matter. You'd have to leave before pressing the button, eating all the time save. It's faster / easier to dig down than up to boot. You definitely have enough plats with the 8 clip, I still ended each of my attempts with like 6-10 in the chamber unless I made some egregious error, and that's *with* the out of bounds peeking.

Thanks! And yeah, Ryeor plotted multiple geode locations and found that a large cluster is located around 5,000 units straight out from the Drop Pod. With that being said, with the large size of the geode I found that you can dig straight down right outside of the drop pod and have a fairly high chance of running into the geode. Digging straight down would only work in groups of 3 or 4, however. As for void jumping, we started off our runs with Ryeor clipping out and locating the geode while I was digging down. There were a couple times where Ryeor ended up jumping into the geode and mined up towards me. While this worked, it was a huge time sink. I think for regular mission speedruns the best strategy would be to mine straight down right outside of the drop pod. You either hit the geode or you don’t, and if you don’t it’s an easy reset to try again. I’m hoping we have some time this week to get a full squad together and test it out. May stream it, too. Who knows ;)
