Deep Sea Fishing for Blue-eye Trevalla

WE’RE BACK! Yes, it has been a while between videos. Fishing has taken a back seat for a short time whilst we’ve been busy setting ourselves up to spend even more time doing what we love!
After a 9 week hiatus (which saw us come home with only 1 Blue-eye and 1 Ling in late August), we were excited to finally have an opportunity to hit the shelf again.
The day was a bit of hard work, constantly sitting in reverse palming the wheel but with the drift along the contour line and in line with the swell - at least that was in our favour. Persisting with the wind and a few wet ones over the back, our efforts were rewarded with 5 nice size Blue-eye that we were very pleased with. A freezer top-up we desperately needed.
Fish weighing in at a healthy 6.8, 7.3, 7.7, 8.2 & 10.2kg.

Hi guys, been watching and enjoying your videos lately. You mentioned waiting for suitable weather. I would like to bring my boat over to the east coast to try this sort of fishing. What swell height, wind direction and swell period do you look for to go out to the shelf? I'll be fishing out of a 6.4 m boat. Cheers 👍

Hey. Thanks for watching. Our boat is of same size. Winds under 15kn but ideally under 10kn. Swell bellow 2.5m. Best if you can have a north to south or south to north drift to keep you in similar depths. 400-500m is where we find best 👍
