Finally, someone who mentions the PC, no one else ever mentions them, thank you 🙏

1st let me say: Kyle is the most AWESOME name ever! It's crazy because I have the Star Adventurer 2i, EQ6R pro and a RedCat 51. Identical set up. I added an asi air pro and no need for a computer or ascom. for $250.... you will LOVE it like I LOVE this scope!
@KJsCosmos3 жыл бұрын
Aye thats whats up Kyle! I have definitely considered the ASI Air. Looks like an incredibly useful tool!

Not sure if this applies to your guide scope but mine is quite similar and there is two ways and two screws to focus it: one where you turn to achieve focus and the other where you pull a tube out. So your pinch stars most likely are because you didn’t reach proper back focus. Try with an eyepiece first and those two ways to focus I just described. Hope this helps!
@KJsCosmos3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Phil! I have a feeling the camera is not coplanar even with the proper back focus.. still working through it!

If you want a really GREAT! guide scope, look at the Stellarvue 50mm guide scope. The optics are amazing, they are around $150.

Like everything in life ,every choice is a compromise. It seems especially true with this hobby unless you have a substantial budget. It looks like you have a sensible setup, l like it. It is hard to know how close to the deep end one should jump into the pool as a beginner

I first purchase a Skywatcher Evoguide 50ED for my WO Zenithstar 103, it worked fine. I purchased a 50mm 'Orion' (generic under many labels but the same as yours) for my Ioptron Photron, didn't like how it functioned compared to the Skywatcher.. bottom line.. purchased a second Skywatcher.

Yeah, I guess it’s one of those things that you get what you pay for. I’ve been guiding at around .6 RMS which I can’t complain but I wonder if I could get better guiding with a higher quality guide scope. I’ll check that one out!

I have the Redcat 51, a Sirius EQ-G. I just received this mount and got it going. I still need a guide scope setup. I also want a polar scope camera. I can’t wait to use it.

There are many nebulas, not only galaxies, that cannot be photographed with this. They will look tiny. But, a lot of objects to photograph anyway.

I recommend a dc power hub and ac/dc power brick by making your own Anderson powerpole cords to tame the spaghetti monster.

It’s not about what camera you have it’s about how you use it! The T3i makes for a great alternative to the expensive astronomy cameras, I love it and plan on using it for quite a while.
