Happened with me a once. I got an infecction, and need to go to hospital. The doctor prescribe to me amoxilin and don’t touch my ear for a week. When i get better and tried to clean my ears, looks like the same the video. I’m freak out, but now i don’t swin in public pool anymore

Every doctor I ever visited told me not to mess with my ears. Ever. They prescribed drops. I did a lot of water tubing on wakes behind motor boats. I was 14, I didn't know what swimmers ear was. Doctors didn't warn anyone of those issues. I went in with several infections. Finally my left ear plugged and I couldn't hear. But I could pass the sound test because I could hear, "enough". Couldn't get a referral or anything. I managed to get it functional enough using a method of air manipulation to get a working area. Still no doctor would even *listen*. Truth is it you want a medical referral you need to lie and say it's dangerous or else you get nothing in the states. Meanwhile here I am with a half working left ear, still. I'll go and get it cleaned out, but it's going to make me pay out of pocket and I have a dozen other issues. It's really about medical liability, a doctor doesn't want ear trauma to come back on them. They don't want you to even touch it unless the hear loss is complete. ... so be kind to people, there's something going on in the medical system that hates people and is getting worse. That and this is a bit of a medical mystery. As much as those ear infections and possible swimmers ear were a bummer, I never got an ear infection again. It is a bit of a defense mechanism. Things do try to get in there. Medical science is still trying to figure it out. If it didn't itch occasionally I'd never even think about it. My left ear is so adapted I still hear better than anyone I know, the wax acts like a drum. Only if I get it very wet does it plug up. I also had an ear candling and it worked wonders (no shade, I know the science, it worked, she was a pro). This is still science that's not well understood. It seems common sense but it's not, and a lot of ear cleaning services are dangerous. A bad ear candle, sure, but in Asia they clean ears with unsanitary tools and give infections commonly. Dangerous ones. I've talked to people who had them, it's not so easy to get a good ear cleaning and easy to get a bad one. Life's complicated mehn.

Probably, but since wax plugs like that aren't built up overnight they probably don't notice the diminished hearing until it's really bad. Kind of like hair growing - you know its growing but since you look at yourself everyday, you don't immediately notice the change.

Had the same issue and it was due to using qtips to clean my ears. It actually pushes wax to the back of your ear canal over time. One night I woke up and couldn't hear out of my right ear. I thought a bug got in my ear. Went in and was impacted wax and the feeling when they took it out was the biggest sigh of relief. I didn't go in for a couple days thinking I just had swimmers ear or an infection trying to home remedy, so it sucked to say the least. They removed mine using a very warm water sprayer.

My buddy has some sort of “condition” and pretty much his ears build up wax insanely fast. If he doesn’t clean his ears for even a week it gets close to this.
