What kind of rods and reels you using

Excellent video! It is interesting to me that most guys bobber fishing in the Great Lakes area seem to use very light gear. In the Pacific Northwest a standard chinook bobber fishing set up would typically be a 10 1/2’ heavy action rod rated for 20-40lb line. Generally this is a bait casting set up. 50-65lb braided line and 30lb mono or flourocarbon leaders.

When I hit the rivers I go heavy but nothing over 20 pound leader… uh the lakes when u are fishing water that those fish have a while to look at the bait u tend to want to have lighter gear

New subscriber here. Do you guys have to fix the bobber stopper after each catch? Keep up the great contents!
@obsessedanglingtv5723 Жыл бұрын
I don’t like the rubber stoppers I actually found that the string tie stoppers work way better and you don’t have to rest them unlike the rubber ones!
@jeffreywilliamson1 Жыл бұрын
If your bobber stop is set ~5ft from bottom do you have to reel it up past the rod eyes? How does that work when you’re in 25+ ft water
@jayrobertson232 Жыл бұрын
No issues, it slides right past the guides and onto the reel.
@obsessedanglingtv5723 Жыл бұрын
Yes you do but I recommend the string knot stoppers they work way better and go threw the guides better

So do you fish the weights 3ft off the bottom or the skein 3ft off bottom? Just wondering how you determine exactly where to place your bobber stop.
@obsessedanglingtv57234 ай бұрын
I run the skein about 4 to 5 foot off the bottom.. you will see the marks on the graph and then u can set up ur right right above the marks

You don’t have any problems with the float stop sliding on braided line?

@@obsessedanglingtv5723 I fish all year, I start out fishing Jan, Feb and March for perch on Lake Michigan. I got out 14 times for perch this year and caught limits every time. It was a phenomenal season catching 11-15 inchers. Then I transition to Coho fishing casting warm water discharges for Coho, then I head to Lake Erie for Walleye, then I target Smallmouth,then May June and July i troll for Salmon at the most southern tip of Lake Michigan. Then I start heading to Ludington for the kings. Hit the streams in September and October for skamania then back on Lake Michigan for perch in November. I fish all the time.

How deep is the water where your running the skein? Seems super deep. How deep is the skein? Never fished stagging kings like that. Looks like a blast

Some spots I was from 40 to 60 foot! And running the skein about 2 to 5 feet off the bottom!

What cure do use for your skein? I have a few different batches of skein cured with different cures, but I’m not catching many fish lol
@obsessedanglingtv5723 Жыл бұрын
I use like 3 different cures! But the pro cure wizard worked best this year
