Do you have a link to the website where you purchased this hand pump well kit? My well is approx 175 feet deep but I have no idea what the static depth is. Thanks.

Big help huh as your question from one year ago goes unanswered. If I find an answer Ill let you know. Here's a link to a few kits. www.bisonpumps.com/deep-well-hand-pump/

If you can find the paperwork from your well drilling, it will tell you what the static depth is. Also, your State Dept of Nat'l Resources probably keeps the information provided to them from your well driller.

Great video. 3 days without water! Do you have a link to that kit? I was going to DIY it, but there would probably be pipes floating if I did that. But I love to see the options that are available

The 1/8” hole you mentioned...is it just one hole ? Or completely through the pipe? I live an 1898 farm with a hand dug stone lined well and it has the original hand pump! I’m restoring it and have purchased the deep well pump, foot valve, and I’m using standard 1 1/4” off the shelf galvanized pipe. I’m using threaded rod with couplers connecting them and attaching to the handle. So it’s a work in progress and fun project. I too want an alternate water source. Even if I have to purify the water it’s still security. But the drill hole caught my ear. Thanks again and great video. I see very few videos with people using existing hand dug wells with hand pumps. I live in northern Ohio and old farm hand pumps are common and they just sit rusted and not operational.

Are the pumps still functional in Winter? I live in Maine so at times it can be well below zero. Very interested in getting one of these.

Thanks for the video. I have electric well pump but wondering if its possible to install backup hand pump in basement next to pressure tank and water line coming into house?
@mthdeolc407 жыл бұрын
so in the well has 2 pumps right? I saw some hand pump on the internet. You have to take the electric pump out and install the hand pump only. This is not what I want. I want to be able to use electric pump on the daily basis and use the hand pump when no electricity or the electric pump broke. Can you tell me if I can have 2 pumps in a 6 inches steel casing and 160 feet deep well either PVC or gavalnize droppipe 140 ft they found water. But drill to 160 Ft deep. Thank you.

Good Morning! Yes, this well has two pumps. Both the electric pump and the hand pump are present at the same time. My well casing is 6" and the well is 143 feet deep. It's a very similar situation to yours and works perfectly. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Steve

What happens when something breaks, like the valve? Are you hosed or is there a way to fix it?

Steve it looks like a nice system. Water for some reason always tastes better from hand pump.
@baileylineroad8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting, Mark. Yes, water is better when you work a little to get it. I don't show it in the video, but since shooting it I found a nice, big stainless steel cup that I keep at the well. It makes it easy to stop and get a drink whenever I walk past. Bye for now, Steve

I’m considering installing one of these. If I install a hand pump with my electric pump, and my electric pump ever goes out, do I have to remove the hand pump in order to remove and replace the electric pump?

When both pumps are in the well which pump should be the upper pump and which pump would be the lower pump? Do you have to remove the upper pump before you remove or replace the lower pump?

Do you know of any hand pumps that can connect to a deep well electric pump, that is for a 5 inch casing? I had a well guy say he couldn't do it because it was a 5 inch casing. I'm hoping he is behind on new options and maybe they exist. I do Google searches and get generic random searches.

I looked up this pump and it goes up to 300 feet but expensive but worth it if power goes out - if yours is 450 try see what water table is they say up much higher than depth of well you possibly might be able to use it
