Spent eight days diving the Truk wrecks in 2008. An experience of a lifetime. Looks as little has changed judging from this video. Thanks for sharing.

Always find it ironic (if that's the correct word)... just imagine the stress and horror going on back then, and now everything is serene and quiet. Especially with the beautiful blue waters and fishies.

Yeah...these are the results of war, that’s why we crave for a peaceful world these days. We must respect these ships and their history, that’s why it’s good to see them but also to know what kind of destruction war can bring

I'm used to the pristine wrecks of the Great Lakes. Never realised how blessed, and spoiled, we are when comparing our wrecks to the discernable ocean rust wrecks.

Eerie to say the least. I can imagine the crew working on the deck, moving along the passageways, standing at their stations, orders being shouted and relayed....makes one think.

If you want to be completely awake and see why these ships are down there watch, [ JFK to 9/11 everything is a rich man's trick ] It's probably the best documentary ever made!

You know, I'd love to dive this location but even though, at the time of the battle, the Japanese were the enemy, these wrecks are full of war dead and that should be respected.

My ship USS Twining, DD540, was sold for scrap. That is nicer, knowing her metals are still serving some uses, than being unfortunate enough to be at the bottom of the sea.

I used a GoPro Hero 3 Silver with dual Sola 1200 lights on a tray with flexible arms. It was a pretty good setup for 2014 but is now surpassed by new technology.

Adrian Earle thanks for the reply! I have a GoPro hero 7 black and love the stabilization it offers. I have a tray and a sola 2000. Thinking of getting another flexible arm and another matching sola 2000. I was debating getting a light with a wider beam and replaceable battery like a Kraken or Big blue light. What do you think?

How long can you stay under water with these amounts tanks?

135 feet is an easy dive, anything under 200ft is easy! 200ft plus adds some extra precautions!

@adrianearle43374 жыл бұрын
It is illegal to remove artifacts from the wrecks. They search your luggage for stuff when you leave.

Once you got it up here in the open air and let it dry out, you'd have nothing but a pile of rust in less than a week.

After all of the time that has passed it's still impossible to feel any kind of sympathy for those people. They got what they asked for. Even today they are still arrogant asses as witnessed by their whaling industry that is against all international laws.
