Absolutely agree, everywhere you went there were groups of guys appraising your body when you were as young as 9 or 10 (or much younger honestly, under the guise of “you’ll be beautiful when you’re older,”) when I was growing up, or shouting critical comments at women for being over 30 (past it,) or not having the t&a size they particularly liked. Girls were shamed so much for losing their virginity that grooming was exceptionally common and easy when you were way underage due to secrecy binding. Equally, being LGBTQ was so dangerous that kids used to just run away to cities even at 15 or 16 - what happened to some of the boys is a very sad thing to think about. There’ll always be work to do but I do believe things have changed a lot in terms of young people calling out and understanding victim blaming and power imbalances in relationships even between adults. There’s just new pressures and new dangers now, but my friends kids are all very well aware of them… in the 90s many of us had no idea and no parents in the house… kids today are way more clued in about so many things thank god.

As a Christina fan, yes. I never really followed celebrity relationships growing up and by the time social media took off, Christina was not as personal on socials as others. It took me a long time to realise and come to terms with the fact the woman I’ve adored since I was 8 is not a girls girl, and is actually the only type of woman I would actively dislike.
