Hi Kee, I've had my RevAir for about a month. I really like it! I had to get used to using it and get my technique down. But it's great. I think it's less damaging to your hair. It doesn't stress the hair. And it doesn't use as much heat as a regular blow dryer. But the hair still gets straight. I like that you can even stretch the hair with cool air if you like. I use mine to stretch my hair for a twist out. My hair is past shoulder length. It elongates my curls. If not, it would look like a shorter natural from the shrinkage. Yes, it is pricey. But it's an investment. I also got a discount before I purchased it.

I love that for you! Yes, all of this! The less damage and less stress part is my favorite part about the dryer! Watch how much longer and healthier you hair gets by eliminating the aggressive action of the traditional blow dryer!

I brought this dryer for my teenage daughter as a Christmas present. She’s into doing and taking care of her hair. This product is a game changer. She has a lot of thick hair and she’s able to dry it in 30 minutes. This is an AMAZING product🤩 especially if you have a lot of hair.

I love what you said about making a client feel safe in your chair. I remember growing up going to salons and feeling like i couldn't speak up or myself to whoever was doing my hair. It took me so long to be able to say what I wanted and stop a stylist when I felt like they were not listening to what I wanted. I'm glad you cared for and respected this young lady enough to not cut more than what she wanted.

Exactly!! It's so important! At the end of the day, it takes a lot for a person to even come to you in the first place especially when their hair is damaged. So you don't want to stress them out. If they aren't ready, they aren't ready. 💜✨️

Combining both this subject and the topic of braids, one of the last times I had my hair braided, my mom and I had made a trip to a different state to a stylist my mom always came back looking amazing after visiting. I spent extra money to get human hair for this trip and we both settled on getting tree braids (I'm sure those are out of style now, I don't know...I stopped keeping up with braid styles, lol). There were only two stylists there and my mom and I were the next ones up after the initial person there. They started on both of us at the same time. However, my mom failed to warn me that I would actually be participating in the process. Maybe she didn't think things would get as bad as they got. Each woman asked us to hold onto our hair and be the ones to peel off the strands and pass them to them, claiming this would be faster. This hair was very silky and difficult to keep my grip on, making the ends uneven. So many times, the woman my hair would click her teeth, of course speak in the mother-tongue of the country she was from (this has really made me wary of stylists not born and raised in America, if being very honest), then forcefully readjust my hand for how she wanted me to hold it, or she had to make the strands of hair smaller. I was already nearly in tears for feeling like such a failure. I don't put a lot of stock into my appearance in general, and even as a young adult at the time, it's rare for me to care about wanting to look more than passable. But it used to be something I also lamented about myself. Why wasn't I "like other girls" who liked girly things? Would other young women know how to hold that hair? I had NEVER in all my years had to participate except to move my head depending on the side or angle being worked on, had I just been getting lucky to have not encountered a stylist like this? I didn't even look at myself in the mirror at the shop once done. We paid and then my mom let out a tirade in the car. She'd held her tongue for my sake to still have my hair done. We stopped somewhere else, a restaurant or gas station or something, and I was then able to look at myself in the bathroom. The hair was supposed to be silky and wavy but because the hair hadn't been pulled off in even strands, it all looked puffy. Money frickin wasted. That woman had put her so-called "faster method" far and above the comfort of the client. She probably saw it as, "It's her hair, if she doesn't do this right, that's on her", which is such a terrible attitude to ever have as a stylist. Speed be damned, when you see this is something new and your client isn't comfortable with it, it's time to take over. And she's the stylist, she's been trained on handling the hair! It's like going to a restaurant and the chef calls you to the back to have you help make your meal. The hell kind of sense does that make? I never went back to that shop again and I hope at some point, someone else read them the riot act about their unprofessional and unrealistic expectations of the client. This is also why I love this channel. It's restored my faith that there ARE caring stylists out there, who don't put rushing as more important than their client's comfort. Thank you so much.

My hair does well with braids, especially if I’m oiling my hair and scalp during the time they’re installed. But I know some people who hair just can’t handle the tension and being put up for long periods of time. People need to start listening to their hair instead of following what someone else is doing and expecting the same results. Our hair is all different because it’s not just based off your hair type/curl pattern. Your diet, dna, skin type, etc. will play a huge role on how your hair is.

Braid Experience: When I first went natural, {in 1999} I went to a African Hairbraiding Shop on 125th St. in Harlem. After doing my thick, long natural hair the braider told me "Don't come back until you perm your hair." I haven't had my hair professionally braided since, but I am still 100% Natural. P.S. Good for you! Who the hell tells someone that about their hair? Why is this hatred for a trait that is present in so many black people across the diaspora so common place? I hear so much of the same experience from black Americans about African braiders. Sad to see that some black people still have this insistent need/belief that afro textured hair has to be permed. I’m sure your hair loves that you didn’t go back!! It didn’t need that hatred for it anyways.

@@EH23831 Type 4a,b, and c hair doesn't only equate to thick hair, it can also be thin, or medium density (thickness). We don't have 5x times the hair that white ppl have, (the thickness or lack there of) of one's hair is determined by the overall hair strands on one's head; nor does straight/ or wavy hair only equate to being fine. Fine, medium or course hair pertains to the actual circumference of the individual hair stands, not just specifically to type 4 hair (aka Afro hair) because Afro hair can also be fine, and medium.

I wear braids primarily and find I retain more length during the times my hair braided. I do have “rules/regimen”: 1) Soak braiding hair in apple cider vinegar and water, deep condition it and use a leave in conditioner 2) Braids are NEVER, NEVER done tightly. If they’re done too tightly, I’ll go back to the salon and have them redone 3) Make sure the my natural hair in my temple region is sectioned larger 4) Wash and moisturize my hair while braided 5) Wear the style no longer than 5 weeks I rarely experience breakage.
@TraceyJean

I do the same, but after the vinegar, I use clarifying shampoo before conditioning. Once braids are in, I oil my scalp regularly and spray the braids with a conditioning mist down to where my natural hair ends every couple days to keep it moisturized.

She kept saying she needed to cut it even so it’ll grow back fuller and healthier. I can remember getting braids with synthetic hair and my scalp being itchy and red right after installing my braids. I also remember my hair feeling "coated" and I didn't think it was necessarily from the dirt or product build-up. From the information you have shared, I believe I may been experiencing an allergic reaction to the hair. I have been natural since 2010 having this information about synthetic hair would have been invaluable to my natural hair journey. Thank you so much for the eduction you offer through your videos!

I once had micro-braids done for a photo shoot, it took 6 hours and two people. We did the shoot but my head was on fire and I had a headache for two days. I finally had to have them removed and 20 years later I have never done them again. I did do braids for weaves and did not have any issue. I would love to do braids for trips but nah!

Happy Anniversary to Deeper Than Hair 🎉 Thank you for teaching me so much about my hair. I can't wait to read the magazine. I remember Hype Hair magazine and quite a few others, so it's time for a new one. I definitely do an acv cleanse on that Hair, if I don't, my scalp will itch so bad and feel like it's raw

Yes...get the RevAir! It is an investment. I spilt the cost of it with my sister. We love it! It dried our wet curly hair quickly without much heat. It gave our hair shine without using any hair products. We also noticed our hairstyles lasted longer. My mom borrowed it for her thin 4C hair and she loved it cause it didn't cause much hair breakage. I had my hairstylist at the salon try it and everyone there was amazed.

Braids work great for me. I do medium sized braids or twists with hair added or crochet. I soak the synthetic hair in acv and water. On wash day I use diluted shampoo and then my final rinse is diluted acv. I use a mix of George's aloe Vera juice paired with a liquid leave in ( i like Alikay Naturals and Naturelle Grow)on my hair 3-4 times a week and oil at least 1-2 times a week. I use the same leave in mixture when I take down braids and detangle my hair. I don't do back to back braids either. I wait a few weeks or months before another install.

I noticed in my late teens that my hair hated braids. I’ve always told people that no matter how well I moisturized my hair prior to, my hair would just break off with braids. People have always looked at me crazy lol. I also think the synthetic chemicals were causing a reaction on my scalp as well. I haven’t had braids in a good 8+ years. I prolly will only get them in the future for a trip somewhere tropical. But would take it out as soon as I get home lol

My hair flourished with braids. But go to one person for my braids. She's a natural hair stylist so she takes extra care when braiding including making sure my ends are trimmed and the hair and scalp were well conditioned and treated. I also use a daily braid maintenance spray the kept my hair moisturized. I also didn't keep my braids past 8 weeks. We typically braided every 6 weeks. I was working out daily and sweat in my head so braids were my solution to stay looking cute. 😊

I've experienced an allergic kind of reaction to synthetic fibers, specifically nylon it seems, even in clothes. Which resulted in bruising or abrasion marks at the seam areas. My hair has never done well with synthetic braids either. The fiber seems to cut my hair off almost like a scissor or razor.

I love your videos so much! I am natural, but wanted a change for a bit.The last time I had braids, they were super tight and heavy and I also had two people working on my head. I was scared to say anything to them even though I'm an adult now 😔..I managed to grow my edges and hairline back (It took so much of my hair out). I know what mistakes were made, I probably won't ever get braids again, though. Wish I could sit in your chair one day! I would love to show everyone a hairtype with significant issues that I'm sure alot of people can really relate to. I had dreadlocks, but combed out them a few years back and have an established hair routine, but my edges have always been quite thin. I am so self conscious about it. Recently, I got the courage to get a super short cut and even though my problem areas show even more now I am teaching myself just to be comfortable with what I have. It isn't so bad. I love you all so much, have a great day ❤

I braid hair and what I try to do for my clients is, wash put a thicker/ heavier leave in conditioner and after I blow dry I add some oil to their ends or grease and that helps to seal the ends. I noticed that this is helping with their ends not being brittle and dry when they take the protective style down.
