When I was a kid, my dad and I were driving back from the store at dusk and we saw a whole herd of deer cross the road. So we were driving at like... 5 mph, slower than just idle in drive. Wait for all the deer to pass. Then out of nowhere, full sprint, one runs into the side of the barely moving suv with a loud thud. Dad opens the door and it's just laying on the ground with blood coming out of its face. He goes to move it off the road and the thing jumps up, dukes of hazard slides across the hood and runs off. Idiot knocked itself out running into the side of the car. And that's the story of how I met the dumbest animal on earth

One time when I was a kid we were driving at grand Lake in Oklahoma since my grandparents had a Lakehouse there and we were driving back from eating out we literally passed over 100 deer I just lost count after 100 there were so many deer on either side of the road I had never seen that many before it was amazing

I remember one time me and my friends were just cruisin' looking for something to do we turned into this residential neighborhood and there was just with deer chillin in someone's yard so we start driving past it, as soon as we do it starts running parallel with out car but just ever so slightly askew for about 30 seconds (which is a surprisingly long time for an event like this) it just keeps speed with us inching closer and closer to our car, my friend who's driving is just pissed (he was an angry person overall) and finally the deer makes contact with the car pretty much lightly bumping it and rubbing against it, the deer kept contact for like 5 seconds until it fucked off in the opposite direction my always angry friend wound up with the most defeated demeanor, was the weirdest thing I've seen a deer do in person to this day.

Can confirm that deer are absolute suicidal idiots. I was working a movie shoot maybe ~5 years ago (nothing Disney-level, very indie budget) and we were driving the camera van out to a house in the woods in the morning. It was a few miles out of town, so there were a lot of animals, the guy in charge of setting up the lunch tent swore he spotted eagles one morning. Anyway, me and two other camera assistants are in the car and I'm driving, it's maybe 6 AM, there's a beautiful sunrise, and we come upon this big grassy field and there are like 30 deer just hanging there. As soon as they see the car, they start running alongside the car at some distance and I slow down a bit and we're just looking out the side window like "woah, this is so cool, nature is amazing, wow!" The camera assistant next to me (it's a 3-seater in front) pulls out her camera and starts taking pictures of these gorgeous deer when suddenly they just fucking LEAP OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND CROSS THE ROAD and I just hard-slam the break harder than I've done in my entire life and I'm like inches away from crashing into this fucking STAMPEDE of deer who decided to suddenly just leap out in front of a moving van. Thankfully, I didn't hit any of them and nobody was hurt in the van (hooray, seatbelts!) but we really went from "wow, nature is gorgeous!" to "HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE DIPSHIT ANIMALS OH MY GOD" in a split second.

A couple of years ago I was driving on my way to work, came around a bend, and there were two deer standing in the road. I panic stopped, laid on the horn, but they didn't move. A moment later, two more deer appeared on the right side of the road. Then another stepped into the road behind me. I look out my passenger side window... two more dear just off the road. For years I'd have to drive through a road that went through a woodsy part and if deer wanted to cross, 99% of the time there's two of them. So any time I saw a deer on the side of the road, even after it crossed I'd be in my car yelling "WHERE'S YOUR FRIEND??" and sure enough, another deer would show up and cross as well.

Bruh on a road trip we were driving on the highway no one in front of us no one behind us, we were towing a giant ass camping trailer. And a deer comes out of nowhere runs and jumps at least 10 feet above the ground and takes out one of our trailers top running lights and leaves a dent in the bedroom slide out when I stood next to it it was at least 7 feet above my head so it's had to have been at least 12 feet that deer jumped to die pointlessly and with much damage to us.
