Deer Creek Road is one of the best scenic roads in California, however with an up to 12% grade, narrow single lane and frequent blind turns, Deer Creek Road is also one of the most dangerous!
This twisted, steep and treacherous road is asphalted but narrow. Its many curves can pose a challenge to even the most experienced of drivers. Deer Creek Road is 2.6 miles long, connecting the Pacific Coast Highway and Pacific View Drive.
This trip starts headed South on Pacific Coast Highway, where we pass through Point Mugu Rock (00:50). We turn onto Deer Creek Road (07:10) and head into the Santa Monica Mountains. Deer Creek Road turns into Pacific View Drive at (13:25). From Pacific View Drive we turn onto Yerba Buena Road (22:20) and head back toward the Pacific Coast Highway.

This trip probably looks much better coming from the opposite direction (with better views of the Pacific) but I was running against time and figured it’d be a good excuse to do the reverse on another day.
