The "This is your recreational land" sign on the bridge must give you that 9 year old Christmas morning feeling every year. I am whimsical and jealous of this deer camp as mine has disbanded many years ago. God's country with friends. Congratulations on having such a place to be alive.

Good video, we hunt West of Iron River and between the wolves n bear we don’t see a ton of deer anymore but the older we get it’s not about shooting as much. Crazy about that guy walking thru lol

I use to hunt the Iron River area over by the Sunset lake/ paint river area many years ago. We use to do really well there. It’s a beautiful area and big woods. Lol yeah I couldn’t believe it when he came walking by, right in the middle of no where haha. Love your videos as well. We’re having a computer issue currently and are looking at posting some in January when we get our new computer so stay tuned for more episodes

Great camp. That’s the biggest stove I’ve seen in a tent. I’ve seen them in mechanic shops and garages but not a tent. You guys got it down pat

Went 10 days straight last season without seeing a single 🦌 at our camp. Its north of Seney. Also had 20" of snow. Sending deer south to the yards.

Paul Dombrowski - That can certainly make for some tough hunting! I can remember about 20 years ago getting 18” over night in the Iron River area. Definitely made things a lot tougher. Hopefully Mother Nature will be kind to the deer this year. Good luck

It appears it's opening day for the wolves as well... Them Bucks were getting at it! I would have been pissed some dude come walking through my blind but I guess that's what you could expect hunting in public land but either way he should have shown more respect and went around your spot...

Yeah I have a pack of 5 running around right now that are there daily. Yeah I wasn’t real thrilled with that guy, especially being in the middle of no where, or so I thought. He actually ended up setting up about 70 yards away trying to cut me off. As soon as I shot he came out looked at the deer shook his head and kept walking. No congratulations, nothing. Luckily he hasn’t been back since but that’s the way it goes sometimes

Commend you on take a doe. The biggest problem with Upper Michigan's herd is too many small bucks are taken. Especially where you were hunting, which I assume was in the Escanaba area.

Good video. You guys ever let the young bucks pass? In my state (Texas), we cant shoot bucks that have an inside spread of less than 13”. We let the small ones go to grow and we shoot some stellar deer here.

Buck and Slug Reloaders - Thank you! In the UP there is a 3points on one side restriction in place for our tags. Some guys pass younger deer, some don’t. It all depends on how their season is going and how low their freezer is. In the past we did really well shooting older deer up there, however those day have come and gone. To be honest, oddly enough things have gone down hill for our camp since they put the 3pts on a side in place.

Great question! We are out of Michigan where we have a ton of state land that is open to public hunting. Not sure what state you are located in but you can purchase the app OnX Maps and it will give you all the available public land areas in your state. The other option would be to contact your local DNR and they can also pin point you on land to hunt. Hope this helps and good luck!

@@kevinaalberts9251 - Have you tried moving to a different piece of public ground? Being mobile and moving around has helped with our success. Sure there is trial and error but the state has a lot to offer and there’s a lot of good public grounds throughout the state.

I am watching this in October and i just bough a .308 rifle. I am headed out to where i shot my 1st deer ever, a spike horn. That was in 1990 and i am gonna hunt this piece again. It is by a dump. My blind is across the road on State property and it had grown in a lot since i was there last. Gonna go build it it and wait for Nov. 15th. Great Video and Good luck this year.

was sad to see that moron walk right in on you.. no different out west here. was gutting an elk many years back and had a guy put a gun in my back... brother in law walked up behind him and disarmed him and thru his bolt down the mountain... on of the last times i hunted elk, and i dont hunt alone anymore.

@@DroptineRidge being in the middle of no were several miles from a road no way of contacting anyone... before most of us had cell phones thats easy to say but when your in that position i didnt ask his name or get identification. hindsight is 20-20 i have heard of this happening alot, even back home were you are at. I have learned out west that most fellow hunters are not your friend and to never turn my back without someone else to watch it and never hunt alone.

Not to mention they are now over populated to the point of packs of 10 or more and going after peoples dogs and farmers cattle. Don't cry over an animal that could kill you. Unless you live there you don't have a clue what the locals deal with on a day by day basis

@@craigmarble8956 I understand you're thought process a little bit and we did try to have a hurt like a lottery to raise money and only allow some wolves to be taken but the tree huggers cried and our governor shut it down. So they are going crazy feeding on everything and a lot of times they do it just for sport.

Most people don’t want to see a head shot and 99.9% of hunters are going to take the exact same shot I did. I butcher my own deer and had a ton of great tasting jerky from her. Good luck hunting

Andy Parstino - That shower works wonders! It can get very very hot even when it is super cold out. It’s instant too, so we never have to worry about it heating up.
