I missed doing this tactic twice this year hunting and was busted both times. I tend to follow the sound of barking squirrels and screeching blue Jay's to locate deer during mid day. While listing to the woods and getting excited knowing that I was close I let my guard down while stalking. The transition in vegetation was minimal but enough to make a difference.
