Deer Jerky, Costco Australia Haul & Freezing Meat!| Day In The Life | Livvy Golightly

I try my hand making Teriyaki Deer Jerky for the first time! I've made Deer Jerky once in my dehydrator, but I was looking for a way to use up some fresh ginger that had been in my fridge for a little while and found this recipe to be a perfect way to marinade the deer jerky.
What's even better is the Deer was free from my brother in law - so the only cost was the ingredients for the marinade and the dehydrator, which has already paid for itself!
Felix and I head out to our bi-monthly Costco trip to once again fill up our freezer with meat. I noticed a few items were far more expensive than last time, which reinforces to me that we really need to start being more self-sustainable and become more self reliant right now!
Filling our freezer with bulk meat from Costco Australia is a great way for us to make sure that we don't have to worry about the rising price for a little while.

*Teriyaki Deer Jerky*
300 g deer meat (I used leg meat that we sliced up thinly)
1 c soy sauce
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 c Rice Wine Vinegar
2 tbs sesame oil
2 tbs garlic powder
2 tbs minced ginger
2 tbs sesame seeds
Combine ingredients in a bag or a bowl. Allow mixture to sit for at least 2 hours but no more than 6. Place meat into dehydrator at 65 degrees C for 6-7 hours. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
