Don't matter how old you are boys still love their toys... That is one slick little 450. I drove one for a farmer working drain tile installation in the late seventies but can't remember how old it was. Think it was a C. Handy machines to have around.

I have a 550 g Lt with a arch and winch and full forestry package. I would still rather use my timberjack 240A. We skid with the dozer as last resort its really hard on tracks and plus I hate cleaning the tracks everyday. Keep up the good work I enjoy watching ur videos.
@turnerloggingllc3 жыл бұрын
The dozer is definitely a specialty tool, I wouldn't give up our skidders to exclusively drag logs with it, but its definitely handy in mud or steer terrain. Thank you so much for watching, Larry!!
@danielmoulton4117 Жыл бұрын
If you like it with no winch, you'd love it with one. They're thrifty, and productive. Even when you're able to use the skidder, you can bunch with the dozer and keep the skidder moving.

Hi Dan!!😀😀 That's a really nice 450 !! A winch and an arch would turn that into a great logging machine. Not too big but not too small. Sounds like winter is coming with a vengeance next week. They are calling for wind chill temperatures around - 35 degrees on the weekend and the first of next week. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al

I would sure like to have that little machine with the six way blade here on the farm. As you said, having a winch and possibly an arch might help to get the lead end of the logs out of the dirt. Proved it might have a place to keep moving logs when other options won't work, especially if it was possible to drag more than one log at a time and not have a second person walk out with each turn. That was a first, seeing Dad move logs rather than cut trees. A very nice machine most of us equipment lovers would love to have ourselves. Nick, North West Farmer
@turnerloggingllc3 жыл бұрын
Well normally I think it would just be a one man show hooking and unhooking logs, but that thing can be a pain to jump on and off of, so it was just as quick for me to follow dad out so he didn't have to get off the machine. It would definitely be nice to pull two logs at a time. We can't thank you enough for always watching, Nick!!! 🙏🙏🙏

A most impressive performance from that machine and the chief operator. It is clear that it can extract logs and work timber in difficult circumstances especially where the soil is really wet. It also may offer further opportunities should you come across them of comfortably felling and extracting on slopes or other awkward circumstances. I can clearly see where a winch would improve extraction rates by pulling two logs or perhaps more at a time and I bet it only sips fuel as well! I was thinking also that a day on the dozer will likely be easier physically for your Dad rather than felling and bucking trees all day long - I'm amazed how well he copes as it is knowing that he is well over "normal" retirement age..
@turnerloggingllc3 жыл бұрын
It always makes me happy to see him on a machine, he loves running that little dozer. I'm looking forward to putting in on a job in the bluffs of the Missouri River in the near future, it will definitely shine in the steep ground as well as the mud. @turnerloggingllc3 жыл бұрын
If you work in any wet or really steep ground at all, a dozer would definitely be a boost to your operation. It can definitely be hard to convince dads about new equipment ideas or investments, it's something I've dealt with all my life and continue to deal with at times with my dad. But usually once they see first hand how a machine will make work easier or fast, or in a dozer's case, help keep you working..they will be glad you have them! Thank you very much for always watching, Sawyer!! 🙏🙏🙏

That's what my main goal has always been since I started logging, to always be able to move wood no matter what the weather is throwing at us, this dozer is a key piece to that puzzle. We've been so busy lately I haven't had much of a chance to work on the Peterbilt, and I'm expecting a call any day now with the loader install being done on the Mack, then Brandon and I will start building the bed and headache rack. We always run Stihl chain, I run a couple different configurations, but use a lot of RS36 chain in dirty timber. I like round top chain for boring out Walnut, it seems to be a little smoother. All my chains are in a 3/8 size, where Dad prefers .404 round top in a full skip on his saws. Thank you very much for watching, Mike!
