The entire fish was cleaned at the dock by the local Panamanians and distributed between the families! The entire fish was gone in minutes and all eaten within two days. I was very happy to see it make so many people happy!!!

I was the one who told you about the captian i was working with who told me some story that he was working for two brothers who speared a record marlin . As i decribed the photo he had shown me youtold me he had stolen the story and that in fact it was you who had speared the marlin....LOL... This video shows the exact photo he showed me...LOL..

This is legitimately one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in my life. This video is such an inspiration. I can only imagine how proud you were of yourself and still how proud you are. From being in the water by yourself with another predator to swimming 70+ feet to secure your unexpected catch while at the same time setting a world record. Absolutely Incredible!

Not to mention the fact he did it in self defence, if you bothered to actually watch the video you would hear him talk about how if it was caught on a line they would have sent it back. He didn't go in to kill a blue marlin, he went in to get a mahi. Read the top comment too where he says the fish was split between the locals and none of it went to waste.

@@killa_kyle8580 Anyways i beg to differ. I believe spearfishing is actually more sustainable than fishing. I actually pick which fish I choose to shoot. Even then it's not guaranteed that i hit or land it. What happens when you foul hook a fish in the gills? Or perhaps it gets injured while trying to release it? Marlins have died on the hook before they are even reeled in.

I’ve seen that clip of the marlin being speared many years back. Never knew it was you and never knew the story behind it. Thanks for explaining the whole process, and awesome job. In 2014 I had an absolute giant blue marlin (1000+ lb) swim up to me in Ascension, but I didn’t have the heart to shoot it, it lit up in the most amazing electric blue I’ve ever seen. Felt very privileged to have that experience.

Super Dooper. I’m pretty sure what I saw. All the YFT I shot and landed were over 230Lb and were about the size of the Marlins head. 2 days earlier I was messing around with the tail of a 1370 Lb Marlin the guys caught a few months earlier. That tail was almost as tall as me. And my buddy in the water that witnessed the event said that Marlin’s tail was just as big as me. But anyway I didn’t shoot it or weigh it or measure it, so neither one of us can prove anything. 😊

Thanks for the fish tail that didn't flop! I've heard a lot of fish "tails" that were nowhere near real or even interestingly spewed. This is probably the best fish "tail" ever and there's documented "proof of life". I love the Arrington Family!
