I traveled from Delhi to Khatmandu in a bus. This must be 1987, i was 11. The bus was a video coach and the bus driver and clear were huge fans of Shammi Kapoor. So i must have seen all Shammi kapoor films, heard Rafi sahab. These men taught me what is love. Its been 36 yrs and i still keep coming back to these songs. No, gaudy dances, no skin show, no exotic foreign locations, no brash music.. just amazing lyrics, stupendous music, soulful singing and brilliant acting!!

Oh what a soul binding music and lively lyrics. Excellent composition by great O.P.Nayyar sir and life given by Rafi Sahab and Asha madam. Based on Malgunji Ragam, this song puts me to sleep whenever I was in dejectedood. One need not view this video. It is sufficient to listen with eyes closed lying on the terrace , and no doubt , one will be lifted to seventh heaven with the first few bars of this golden melody. How can someone dislike such a beautiful song, that too about 500 and odd? What else they expect more?. We feel proud that we are also living at the time of these legends. Film released in 1964. I was just 5 years old. I saw this film for the first time after my graduation in 1979. From then , I lost count of the number of times, seeing and hearing this heart squeezing melody. Hats off to all who had contributed in making this song a great success, especially those instrument players flute and guitar and others

For me this song comes alive at exactly 4:32 when Rafi sahaab sings 'bahaa_aar aa_aayi' with such emotion, as if he is on the 'shikari'. The lead up 10 seconds is amazing too. As he was a Muslim, his pronunciation of Urdu words were immaculate ofcourse, 'khiza' - is one such word. 'Jhooma' is sung well too on several occasions. When i hear this in audio, none of the visuals distract and the pure joy of his voice is satisfying. The cinematography is wonderful, where one can clearly guess theres an oarsmen in front of S.Tagores boat and one behind S.Kapoor. Imagine the fortune of the guy rowing S.Kapoors shikar - immortalized. Great stuff.
