The movie didn't do well in the box office to be honest probably because it was ahead of its time. But yes songs were highly appreciated.

I was in class 8 at that time. While we were grappling with nuances of Algebra being introduced at school, the songs from this film were a great relief to my mind. I remember that the songs from this film were heard at every corner, galli, nukkad, paan shop etc. The songs were a rage like all of Rajesh Khanna's songs at that time. The movie fared not very well at the box-office but the songs are ever green and loved - even to this day. Now, into my sixties, I relish these songs very much as it takes me back to a time of peace, family time and joy as families remained together, watched movies in the theater together and celebrated all festivals together.
