"Photograph" is by far the most musically mature and harmonically sophisticated track on the Pyromania album. This song foreshadowed the late 80's "Hysteria" version of Def Leppard, while still retaining the raw energy and power of the early days of the band. This is the best damn song Def Leppard ever recorded. All Hail Producer Mutt Lange!

Totally agree. First DL song I ever heard. It was only a short clip, but enough to get me curious. The rest of 'Pyromania' didn't do much for me otherwise to be honest. Then 'Hysteria' came out of nowhere around that time! :D

@@sekhemasaru5718 Agree 1000%! Music from the 1980s had a special quality to it, and I have never since heard music that good since. I have noticed that a lot of radio stations play 1980s rock music, more so than any other kind of modern music. So there must be a demand for it, which gladdens my heart. 🥰😍❤

I find it interesting that this song was written in 1983 about a woman (Marilyn Monroe) who died in 1962 and here it is 2020 and the song STILL rocks making it a unique, inter-generational love song that transcends space and time

I think it's timeless because most men can relate to the lyrics. It probably wasn't Marilyn, but there was somebody for most of us, as teenagers, that we obsessed over in magazines etc. and we knew that the pictures alone were never enough! Plus the song just sounds awesome.

I’m from 1980 and I agree in my own weird way. All I remember is He-Man and M.A.S.K., videotapes and cassettes and music like this, slumber parties at friends who lived on boats, falling in love with a girl and being too afraid to tell her. I loved it so hard it makes me cry sometimes. And I had epilepsy for the whole second half of it.

Being four years in 89. The age of awareness and cognition had really taken hold of me. I'm really glad that I saw the last half of the 80s. Nothing like it. That era. Or the early 90s. When late 90s Pop music took over the cool of those time periods were truly lost for awhile. Don't know if we'll get it back. C'est la vie.

Wow. I don't know if it's considered the end of the verse or the pre-chorus. But the "I see your face every time I dream...your all I want, my fantasy" part is so epic. I thought it was awesome back in the 80's, but it still holds up.

@@timothyhungate8123 Yeah me too. I do try really hard to not to be a typical old geezer moaning about "the good old days". But back then we still lived at a vaguely human pace, had more time and space to process and share in things. Now everything happens at warp speed, everyone's a cynic and we've all got our guard up. I do genuinely believe we had it better than kids today tbh.
