This piece is powerful. She is expressing her personal experience. She does a lot of pieces around "identity" and doesn't speak about anyone's experience except that of her own. For me, growing up in a culturally mixed household - I relate to this. Thank you Vanessa!

Hebrew Mamita... inspirational. Everytime I hear her I walk away relating, proud, impressed and feeling the hairs on my arms sticking on end. Wish I were this good and honest with my words.

Initially heard this as vocals on a mix Atjazz and Jullian Gomes played, this is beautiful

Growing up with diversity is something rarely expressed in such an honest way. It is something you realize as you become an adult. That people see you in only this way or that. Then it becomes real. You can choose.... Or ignore the influences that have shaped who you are. I love my friends and family for how they have shaped me over time. And they never ask for my I.D.

It's a poem. Give her a break. Don't be jealous because she did something you only wish to do. She is AMAZING.

I don't believe this is an example of cultural appropriation. She speaks from her heart, she is what she is and doesn't feel the need to rationalize it to others. Please watch her video called The Hebrew Mamita..very well done and I think you may feel differently about her after seeing this. In fact, she was able to put into words, feelings I've had almost all my life..she is dead on.

Pretty sure shes a part of 3 or 4 cultures naturally so dunno if its appropriation as much as diversity

Really problematic that she does not recognize that she has the ability to be cultural bandit while many of the people whose cultures she is slipping into do not have the same ability.

She's literally talking about the races that she actually is though.

I don't see what people problem with her is . She is talking about breaking past social stereotypes , not pointing them out . Some of you are just being pretentious . Get over yourselves .

Don't like it..makes cultural appropriation [look up definition] look like a good thing. Cultures are not one dimensional or based on food or slang and to reduce culture such small dimensions is an issue.

This isn't about cultural appropriation, it's about how she herself is mixed-race.
