We urgently need this help, we have all the resources requirements to sue those haters against us

I'm wondering.. People lie about other people a million times a day on social media. Is it just not worth the hassle to sue, then? Too difficult to prove, or not a high likelihood of ever getting the money from random social media users? (Or perhaps the reputation hit would be worse if you sued random people - "big guy going after the little guy!" - than the reputation hit caused by the lie?)

Uhh, it's about money. Most people making statements online don't have money. And you have to prove some type of damage unless you're lucky enough to have a defamation per se. Sueing them is typically useless unless you want to start a legal smear campaign after you win. Other than that, useless. If they do it while working for an employer (on company time in a company setting), then you could sue their employer who most likely has money. So then it becomes worth it.

Thanks for the stuff you guys do. It is always interesting. I do have a question I've always been curious about with Defamation/Liable in the context of official duties. I have to get physicals for work and while there are accepted parameters of healthy and not, there are also grades of unhealthy. We entrust medical professionals with the power to make those decisions. But if they say you have high blood pressure and can't work with a systolic of 142...which is true in the sense of high BP but shouldn't bar someone from work...is that Liable?

Most legal elements are comparable but always check the details for differences in every jurisdiction.

I love your content and website but don't people need to know that defamation has a very short statute of limitation? Isn't it only one year in California from the incident and not the discovery?
@jerkface38 Жыл бұрын
It's one year from the time the defamation occurred. But typically when someone is defaming others, it is a repeated event. So it restarts with each new statement from what I gather.

@@jerkface38 I know and it does. It was a rhetorical question for Shouse.

I was accused of being a thirteen stepper, AA jargon for predator, in front of thirty people at an AA meeting. I knew there was gossip about me but I just tried to deal with it. However, this new girl sat next to me at the meeting so I talked with her about the meeting and she thought I was a funny guy. She is pretty and was dressed in a long and bright dress so easy for everyone to see. I've been celibate since my divorce five years ago. and I joined the group. I was shocked as hell when they angrily dressed me down in front of that girl and the crowd. I have until July 1st to file a Defamation claim. Should I do it?

No. Because you are a 13 stepper. Remember you attending those meetings are unanimous. So you have no grounds to sue. It's just an opinion that bothers you cheers 🍷 🍺🍻
