could this information be used to add more cells to the battery (literally soldering more cells to it) i have been hacking my batteries with more cells for years but when i do the battery indicator in the computer becomes very inaccurate discharging normally to 7% and staying there until the battery really is dead and recharging to 93% and staying there until the battery is actually charged the computer does stay on for the correct amount of time based on the amp hours added to the existing battery but the indicator doesn't work could this be used to fix that problem and get the indicator to work again

You can power your mac with a mini nuclear reactor if you wanted, just have to be smart with hack the firmware.

I know this is 4 years late but You generally have to run 1-2 full charge-drain-discharge cycles to completely reset the meter
@mwbgaming284 жыл бұрын
@@charlesturner897 that usually helps, but not always, some laptop batteries are fixed and cannot be upgraded Though I have found that most laptop batteries can only be upgraded if you do it slowly (10-20wh per calibration)

The problem is As soon as hardware does anything even most remotely complex it is not just hardware anymore, there is software running this hardware. At this moment it is hard to find anything computer related what have no software on it (hell even power supplies for desktops and power supplies for laptops have software in reality only thing what does not run software contain all software which you are running - it is RAM)

as im trying to figure out the why someone do this, i realize one possible malicious attack, as the last sentence says.. imagine someone hacks a laptop to make the battery just keep charging and charging. a fire is pretty much guaranteed, and being that it is lithium, along with the elctrolytes, and the fact that its encased inside plastic, which is made from petroleum and will be a huge accelerant, this will be like lighting a huge fast burning toxic match, only your laptop is the match. wow

Some hardware manufacturers have different levels of access to information even in their own organization, so the TI person may have been telling the truth about how much could be configured, but there may be more which could be configured. That said, I doubt there is much else to configure in the in battery -- it's just not that complex.

Except, like he says in the end of this talk, there are hardware thermal fuses on the battery that prevent that from happening.

I guess it's really easy to convince yourself that it is possible when you have little to no knowledge of the specifics of how its done or how these batteries worth. Stop spreading FUD. Nothing you said in your comment is possible.

This guy has a PhD and worked for the NSA, but sounds like a 5 year old when talking about hardware. He clearly didn’t get a proper education, and is not qualified to be working on software without a basic understanding of hardware functionality.
@MoonfireSeco5 жыл бұрын
He stated in the beginning that he doesn't have a lot of experience in hardware, but he has enough to be qualified for software development. No need to bash the guy

I manually opened and charged my laptops dead batteries. The battery was near full, but the battery did not want to report to the laptop correctly and OS software reported zero voltage and zero capacity on the battery. So I have to hack this embedded controller into reality, that the battery is still good. Going to watch the video now. 38:31 yeah I need that info.😄

you should have started with something simpler like a shuttle laptop or other Chinese/Taiwanese brand. Then you woud've known more about laptop batteries before tackling a macbook battery with a TI chip which is more complicated easily brickable and more expensive.

So much talk and no answers. It all has been done by google ubrt battery repair tool. You di not need to launder the corporate money as you say, and no need to waste your life.
